Nfu Oh 64 + mauve holo comparison

I'm a little late posting today, but have another magnificent Nfu Oh holographic polish to share to make up for it.

This is Nfu Oh #64, which I classify as a mauve holo.  It's just like the other Nfu Oh polishes, that is:
  • it dries kinda matte
  • super impressive holo finish in the sun
  • rather dull with indoor lighting
  • very linear holo appearance (rather than scattered)
  • crappy wear, chips on the first day
  • difficult to apply, you get bald spots
Here is the same polish taken indoors.  As you can see on the index and ring finger, there are still two small bald spots at the back of the nail.  And this was after three coats.  This polish is very similar to #63, which I will show you tomorrow.  It really looks pink, rather than mauve indoors.

Here is a mauve holo comparison swatch. From left to right:
Nfu Oh #64, OPI DS Original, China Glaze IDK, China Glaze LOL (which is actually purple not mauve, but I needed a fourth polish).

Nfu Oh has the best holo appearance and is a much pinker mauve than the others.  OPI DS Original had the best shiny finish and a scattered holo effect.  IDK leans more blue, has a good smooth linear holo finish (although it's not as pronounced as the Nfu Oh)

Do you really need all of them - absolutely!

  1. I love holo's!
I think I like the scattered effect of the OPI DS original the best :)

  2. Amazing!

I went to vivid nails to check these babies out, but I couldn't see them on the website - only the Nfu Oh's that were on sale. Do you have to register on the site to see these lovelies?

  3. Those colours are really really pretty!

But I'm actually here to ask your advice, kitties. What's your secret application technique when it comes to ulta3 nail polishes? PLEASE tell me!! :) You have such wonderfully painted nails in your swatches.

I just spent the past hour trying to apply Spring Blossom except it is still so streaky after 3 coats and they keep getting ruined so I had to remove them all and redo them! Which is really bad, because np remover is bad.

    Thank you!

  5. Spaceinvaders - I love OPI DS Original too, it depends on my mood as to which holo effect I feel like wearing.

Chantel - Yes vivid nails only sells the Nfu Oh polishes - and they have jacked up their prices recently from what I paid. I bought the OPI DS original and the full China Glaze OMG collection (12 polishes) off ebay earlier this year. I've only had great experiences with my ebay polish purchases.

Joan - My application technique with Ulta3 is to make sure I do really thin coats. I find it dries really fast that way. Usually the first (and sometimes second coats) looks awful, but the third makes it all good. I always use a fast dry top coat when I'm finished too (I use seche vite) Spring Blossom is a little tricky, and you can still see slight steaks (or bald spots) in my swatch, which was three coats.

amusedPolish - The Nfu Oh holos are amazing, even if they don't last very long on the nail, but the three you have aleady are just beautiful too.
