Essence Blue Addicted

This is one beautiful polish that is generally agreed to be a dupe of Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe.  Dark blue jelly with small square blue glitter and medium sized blue and green hex glitter.

I purchased two bottles of these as they are only small 6ml bottles.  I'm glad I did because I used three layers to achieve this look.  I wanted to use this colour on its own rather than layering with it, because I really wanted to have the depth of pieces of glitter suspended in the various layers of polish and overlapping each other.

Purchased from Target for $2.55.  Whoo Hoo.

This was Nail Tek II foundation, three coats of Blue Addicted, one coat of gelous and one coat of seche vite.  Look how smooth and glossy it is.  That's the gelous working for me!!

This mani totally rocked.  I wore it to work on Friday and the security guard at the front entrance noticed my nails and commented how cool they looked.  I love it when total strangers notice your nail polish!!

  10. I have Across The Universe. I put it on once and promptly took it off. I am not a chunky glitter kind of gal. I realized I just like looking at it in the bottle lol.

  11. Chunky glitters can be a hit or miss sort of reaction but when I see them applied in this way - they truly look like a small section of the bottle. I love how you were able to achieve so much depth to them while maintaining the high gloss as well.

  17. What is gelous exactly, is it a top coat that smooths out glitter? Beautiful polish, I wish I could get Essence polishes but it's not where I live, and the only ebayer selling this is selling it with a huge mark up.

  18. Thank you everyone - sorry for the slowness of my replies

Nicole - I was gifted a bottle of Gelous from the most generous blogger friend who noticed that I was always complaining about trying to get my glitters smooth! I'm not sure where I will get more when it runs out.

honeyhr - How sad you don't love AtU. I was so into holos, I didn't realise how awesome glitters could look.

kate - wow $.99, I can't think of any polishes that cheap here in Aus. I was stoked to find it at $2.55!

PolishQuuen - I think it's meant to be a gel like base coat, but it's very shiny too. I think you can only buy it from Sallys in the USA. Huumm. Maybe I should get some extra bottles to sell on ebay!
