Contrary Polish - Love Lyrics Spring 2013 Collection

I'm excited to share some swatches of one of my favourtie indie brands today.  I have the full Love Lyrics Collection from Contrary Polish.  There are six polishes in the collection, and an additional extra special one at the end.

Aint No Sunshine- light greyed out dusty blue with a pale silver shimmer and white flakes.  Carrie tells me that she had tweaked the formula on this a bit since sending it to me to allow the flakes to shine through more, however she said the colour and shimmer/flake ratio are the same.  This is three thin coats with Seche Vite top coat.  The name really matches this shade.  It feels like dark stormy clouds with flashes of lightening.

Better Together- dark blue grey with a turquoise shimmer. I classify this as classic Contrary Polish style with its dusty tones and rich shimmer.  Three thin coats with Seche Vite.  The lines on my nails are simply cloud reflections on my nails.

Feels like home - taupe with rosy pink shimmer/microglitter.  Again, this has those dusty tones I feel are synonymous with Contrary Polish.  This is was three thin coats with Seche Vite.  The slightly larger glitter pieces really pop in the shade when the shimmer is more hidden.

Play Me - light greyed purple with green shimmer. This is such a delicate look, with a rich and strong shimmer. Three thin coats with Seche Vite.

Somebody Loved - pale pink with copper and green shimmer. Another soft and delicate shade which is perfect for spring.  It was almost a nude pink for my skin tone.  This is three thin coats with Seche Vite.

The way I am - pale avocado with fuchsia shimmer/microglitter. What a great colour mix, dusty pale green with bright pink flashes.  This was three thin coast with Seche Vite.

Hallelujah - white with a copper shimmer and iridescent copper micro glitter.  Carrie tells me that this is an extra special polish that she will include for any customers that purchase the full collection from her. This was just two coats of Hallelujah, it was thin and smooth and not streaky at all for a white. Finished with Seche Vite.

The formula on all these were great.  Most could be applied as two thick coats, but I prefer to do three thin, and fast drying coats.  All polishes dried smooth and shiny, even those with the micro glitters in them.  I've quite a collection of Contrary Polishes now, and I've yet to be disappointed by a single one of them.

Contrary Polishes are available from Llarowe in the USA and she is launching the Love Lyrics Collection on February 14th at 1:00pm MST and again at 7:00pm MST.

Shoppe-Eclecticco in Singapore also has stock of some earlier Contrary polishes.

Minis are also available directly from Carrie on the Contrary Polish blog.

Polishes provided for review.

  1. How refreshing to see an indie brand that isn't all about largish glitters. I find these very sophisticated shades and love a number of them. The Way I Am though would have been my winner today with the colors I'm wearing. I find having polishes that compliment my clothes to be a sure winner in catching the eye of people.

  2. Contrary Polish is hands down my favorite indie brand. These swatches and polish are absolutely stunning! I was trying to narrow down the ones I needed, but the number ended up being 5 of them, lol!
