Framed black cats

It's the 13th today, but not a Friday, but lets just pretend it is because I have the perfect Friday 13th mani for you today - lots of black cats crossing your path.

I got a new Lily Anna stamping plate a few weeks ago (Lily Anna 11) and it has a row of cute little cats silhouettes in various positions - walking, sitting, and facing different directions.  The images really reminded me of cat images I printed out as decals a few years ago for a Halloween mani, albeit much bigger images and they inspired me to do another kitty mani.

I started with a pale gradient base using Picture Polish swagger, sky and mellow yellow.  I then stamped the kitties on to my nails.  I then realised they looked a bit funny just floating there in space so I had to add some ground for them to stand and sit on - which then lead me to creating a framed mani.

I've seen some framed manis on Instagram and those girls manage to have the thinnest and neatest lines around the frame.  I don't know how they do it. I've tried fine long striping brushes and short fine detail brushes, but I can't seem to work out how to get them smooth and neat, so you'll just have to put up with these wonky and wobbly ones :).

I'm sure you'll also notice my misplacement of one little kitty on my middle finger.  He's just too high up in the air.  Shall we just pretend he is mid-pounce or something?

Here is the Lily Anna plate 11, you can see the collection of little kitties along the bottom.  Lily Anna Plates are available from Messy Mansion and they ship world wide.

  1. In some countries in South America, the unlucky day is Tuesday the 13th, and not Friday. So, your post is perfectly suited there! BTW, love the black cats

  5. I like the gradient, and I think the frames look nice! I don't think I could manage perfectly straight ones either... but I'll bet you can't even tell from a distance. This is really cute!!

  6. Aww, I love this! I'm such a cat lady, the idea of combining them with my polish habit is brilliant- and your lines are fine :)

  7. I love the jumping kitty lol. I wouldn't even attempt to paint lines around my nails! You did a great job - must be so hard! I am a cat lady too - 3 of my own and 1 old boy (cat!) I feed who sleeps in my greenhouse. A lot of nail polish addicts seem to love cats too :)

  8. Wow, I don't get the lines thin at all and usually they are super wonky. I just can't navigate around my nails with a striping brush I guess ;) Love the kitties, and clearly that one is jumping! :)
