Red carpet nails for a movie premier

I have some very showy, jewel encrusted nails for you today that I actually did to show support to some friends of mine who are in Kochi, India right now, about to attend a red carpet movie premier for a screen play they wrote and directed, which was filmed around my home town of Canberra, Australia.

My daughter has a very small part in the movie, and as such we were invited to the red carpet premier in India, but unfortunately we were not able to make it. So to show my support, I wore these nails today, inspired by Indian wedding jewellery, which I pretended I was wearing to attend the red carpet event.

The base polish is Ozotic pro 621. While I know the Picture Polish Bridget is suppose to be the same polish, I find the picture polish version more orange and not as intense. I'll have to do you a comparison one day. The jewels are Swarovski crystals that I hand placed with gold bullions and the silver dotted lines are individual nail sticker strips that I was gifted.

Now let me tell you a bit more about the movie. The movie is called Salt Bridge and it's a Hindi movie, and I'm not even certain what the story is about, other than it's a drama about an migrant Indian family in a town called Salt Bridge and the various relationships they make, particularly the main lead man with an Australian woman and how the local community reacts. At least that's my take on it from a few conversations and watching a few scenes being recorded. I hope to see it released in Australia where I can sit and watch it through with the English captions, then I'll finally know what it's about.

Like I mentioned above, my daughter has a small role in the movie, playing the main female lead's daughter. That role is played by New Zealand actor Chelsea Preston Crayford, which Aussies might remember her from playing the brothel owner in Underbelly: Razor, which she won the silver logie for in 2012. I'm told that both my mum and I make an appearance in the background of a few scenes too, I think we were in the wrong places at the right time!

New Picture Polish Shades Bette, Eyre and Grace

With Picture Polish blog fest over for another year, I wanted to share full swatches of the two shades I featured in my nail art. Plus my swatches of the other new release Eyre. Oh, and some comparisons to the original Ozotic versions too.

Bette - a medium blue with scattered holographic finish. A re-release of Ozotic 617. Nice formula, and builds to opacity at three coats.

I'm confident to say these are all dupes. If you missed Ozotic 617, then Bette is your best bet.

Eyre - a royal blue chrome finish with slight purple duochrome and plenty of scattered holo particles. A re-release of Ozotic scatter chrome 913.

This Ozotic was only ever released in the square bottles, so here are both bottles. Once again, as described by Picture Polish, these are dupes/re-releases.

Grace - a very pale pink scattered holo. Opaque at three coats. The particles seem finer in this polish compared to the previous two, but that might be more due to it's slightly crelly finish rather than jelly. The macro certainly shows the holo flecks well. This one is a re-release of Ozotic 607.

Comparison of original style Ozoitc Pro 607 (actually that's not entirely correct, because there was another shape before this that was available in around Y2K) Square Ozotic 607 and PP Grace.

Grace is not a perfect dupe of either version of Ozotic 607, and Picture Polish did say this on their facebook page when they first released bottle photos. Grace is slightly paler and the holo particles are definitely smaller than the Square Ozotic, and both the Square Ozotic and Grace have significantly different holo appearance to the original 607 (which I purchased pre-Picture Polish days)

Dance Legend WOW Prisms Comparisons

As promised here is my comparison post that compares the Dance Legend WOW Prisms with various other scattered holo polishes I have in my collation.

Purple - Dance Legend Just another star is a cooler toned purple compared to Ozotic 624, and much cooler compared to Zoya Aurora. The Dance Legend also has the most dense holo flake ratio.

Dark red - Both Picture Polish Monroe and Zoya Blaze are more raspberry red compared to DL Behind the scenes. Behind the scenes has a lot more holo flake compared to the other two.

Black - colour wise, PP Darcy, Zoya Storm and DL Gothic Veil are are a rich dark black. The big difference is the density of the holo flake. Storm and Gothic Veil are very similar.

Blues - Dance Legend Night ranger is no dupe of either Picture Polish Cosmos or Freya's Cats. It's more aqua that Freya's Cats and lighter than Cosmos. Night ranger has more holo flake than the Picture Polish shades.

Charcoal - this comparison is with my favourite ever charcoal scattered holo, China Glaze Lets do it in 3D. LDII3D is a much paler grey and it's holo flakes are finer than Quite Riot. They both a jam packed with holo flakes and a strong flame but are completely different.

Green - Dance Legend Poison leans bluer than Picture Polish Kryptonite which seems are truer emeral green. Poison has a lot more holo flake which also lightens the shade a bit.

Lilac - Dance Legend High Hopes is a pink leaning lilac, especially when compared to Picture Polish Lizzie and Ozotic 606. It's worth noting here that Lizzie is meant to be a re-release of Ozotic 606, and while the colour is identical, you can see that my original bottle of 606 as a lot more larger holo flakes and the flame is stronger.

Silver - You'd think that silver scattered holos would be dupes, but none of these are (and I just remembered that I forgot to pull out my milani 3Ds to include in these comparisons). China Glaze Sexagon looks much finer than Ozotic 609, which looks finer than DL steel Panther.

Browns - I origianlly thought that DL Road to nowhere was very brown, but when compared to Picture Polish Demeter it has quite a red tone to it. DL Bullet for my valentine is more red with a brown down.

Hopefully these comparisons may help with your purchasing decisions. Buttom line is, none of them are dupes.

Red hearts with Ozotic, Pretty Serious and Nail Vinyls

Just because Valentines day is gone doesn't mean we can't rock love heart nail designs, right? I actually didn't get into any Valentines day nail art this year, so maybe that's why the urge hit me two weeks later to want to do some. I really love how this came out, and it's all thanks to @ladylisa who inspired me with her design.

I did a base of Ozotic 521, one of the most stunning and amazing polishes I own. Although this polish is now discontinued, did you know that Picture Polish will be re-releasing it as part of their line some time in the future. I think that is so awesome for all the ladies out there just getting into to nail polish, because it means they wont miss out on amazing polishes like this, nor will they have to resort to paying huge bucks to get the discontinued ones.

On top of Ozotic 621, I applied heart shaped nail vinyls that I purchased from the Nail Vinyls Store Envy shop. On top of that I layered two thin coast of Pretty Serious, Surfing Alien. Surfing Alien is a very textured and glittery matte silver textured polish. The formula on Surfing Alien is thick, but it dries down so perfectly and created such neat lines with the nail foils.

I don't own too many textured polishes. I love the look of them, but I just cant adjust to the rough and scratchy texture, it kind of creeps me out. As such, I've been very selective in my purchases of textures and with the exception of gold, I've limited myself to only a few polishes in a select few shades. I chose Surfing Alien to be my silver texture, and I'm really happy with it. It has both fine and small glitters and is super sparkly.

Black and gold half moon gradient

I was back at work today after taking two weeks holiday leave. As such, my brain is full from catching up on everything that has happened whilst I was away. When my brain is full, words flow not mouth out easily (see what I mean). So I'm skipping the chit chat and heading straight to the nails.

Here is something I wore a few weeks ago, black and gold half moon gradients. I used Ozotic 526 and Amazeballz. I wasn't that happy with my black gradient on the gold, it just didn't blend smoothly like I wanted. But I did like the gold on the black.

Festive coloured ikat

How is everyone going with their Christmas preparations? We are all set I think, presents wrapped, grocery shopping done, cookies baked and ready for Santa. Just one more day of work and then I have a week off where I can enjoy the heat and swim in the pool - I love our hot Aussie Christmases. Yippee.

So I thought I would try out doing an ikat design with Christmas colours. This looked better in my head, well not necessarily better, but definitely different.

The base is Ozoitc 621, I then did the rough triangle shapes with OPI Push and Shove. Then I put the green on top of that, which is PP Kryptonite. Lastly I did the rough scratchy lines using black. When I applied top coat, the red from 621 bled over the top of OPI Push and Shove, making it look much more rose tone gold than silver.

It definitely different, a very edgy Christmas look without doing the standard stamping of snowflakes and christmas trees. I still haven't decided what is going on my nails for Christmas day though, I better get my thinking cap on.
