Here is a bit of crazy nail art I did using Picture Polish Never Nude.  Rather that going for something delicate, which is really what never nude is all about, I chose to highlight the two feature colours in the polish, and do a bit of colour explosion from there.

Obviously the two feature colours in the polish are turquoise and purple, in the form of small hex glitters, so taking those two colours I did some bi-colour stamping.  I used two stamping polishes from Mundo de Unas (although I don't know the specific nails of them), and as I did this nail art back in November when we returned from our vacation, I don't even recall what stamping plate it was - sorry.

Here are some swatches of Never Nude on it's own.  Created by Canadian blogger, Will Paint Nails for Food, Never Nude has a very pale ivory white nude base, on me it leans ever so slightly pink, but I've seen other swatches where it looks more yellow, I guess it's a skin tone and lighting thing.  

There is lots of purple and blue shimmery sparkly as well as turquoise and purple hex glitters.  Because of the sheer creamy jelly base, this does need three coats, and even then I still had a very slight visible nail line in the fun sun.

My 'Merry Christmas (insert year)' posts have become a bit of a regular thing here on my blog for the last four years.  Every year I comment what a lovely day we have had with family, the kids enjoying their gifts and recovering in some sort of food coma.  This year is no exception and everything was in excess.  The kids were too spoiled with all the gifts they got, we all over indulged with turkey and baked ham and all the lavish veggies to go with them.  Plus triple dessert! Thank goodness Christmas is only once a year!

The kids were awake at 6.30am all excited that Santa had been.  There are at such a wonderful age where they are totally caught up in the whole magic of Christmas, and still young enough that they don't ask any questions about how!  Right now I could seriously start another blog about reviewing toys, in particular Lego - I swear Mr 6 has nearly every box available.  He and Dad are currently building some massive spaceship at the dining table.

Let's have a look at the nails I ended up doing with my mum last night as we watched carols on TV.

The base polish is an amazing creation that just doesn't look anywhere near as incredible in these photos as it does right now in real life.  It's an unnamed custom polish that was sent to me from SV by Sparkly Vernis.  It's holo, and gold holo, but also with red and green glitters.  It's a perfect gold polish for me for Christmas.  As soon as I opened the bubble wrap on this polish I knew I would wear it on Christmas Day.  I added some red and green Swarovski crystals and free handed a simple Christmas tree on my middle finger.

Well it's Christmas Eve, and for the first time since I've had my children I'm not sitting here panicky wrapping presents and assembling toys.  You see this year we had a cunning plan.  I took the last three days of work and took the kids down the coast on Monday to spend the night camping.  

My kids had never been camping, and I can't remember when I ever went camping, so they were so excited to go.  We squeezed into a little three person tent with our sleeping bags and blow up mattresses, we ate sausage sandwiches for dinner and managed to stay dry despite the downpour in a Summer storm that came through around 3.00am.  We spent the next day playing at the beach and generally tiring the kids out.  In the mean time, back at home, Mr More Nail Polish did amazing things!  He found all the kids presents that we have stashed around the house over the year and wrapped them all up.  

When we got home from the coast, under the tree was full of presents and the kids eyes lit up.  I can't believe they have actually managed not to touch the for the last 24 hours - there's a Christmas miracle right there!

So once I finish typing up this post, I'm going to sit down and do my Christmas nails.  My mum is going to join me and we are going to drink champagne and watch Carols by Candlelight.

So now lets quickly get to these nails.

Today I have of of the recent collaboration shades from Picture Polish, Honeymoon by the Manicurator.  The colour is inspired by her exotic Caribbean honeymoon location, however for me this time round it was inspired by the colour to create something cold feeling.  I ended up doing a simple stamping mani with a feature nail of Picture Polish Storm.

Honeymoon is a soft pastel green with blue to purple colour shifting glass flecks and a scattered holo finish.  I used two coats for these swatches and still had a very slight visible nail nail. Dry time was good.  You can really see the glass fleck shimmer in the shade, and in the sun the scattered holo comes out to play, it's a lovely combo of shimmer and holo.

If you are wondering how it compares to other similar Picture Polish collaboration shades, siren song or tail feather, both are much greener than this.

I recently received a some nail mail from the Nail Super Store with 12 new JOSS lacquers.  I'm really excited to show you swatches of them, because I think they are all so stunning, but you are going to have to wait for that!

Instead I picked just one to wear in some simple Christmas themed nail art. There are two golds in set of 12, and I flipped a coin to choose which one to put on.  The winner was Shattered Gold, which is an amazingly sparkly gold polish with gold flakies and micro holo gold square glitters.  It's a really stunner!

Then I stamped some simple little trees using Mundo de Unas green polish and then added some teeny tiny silver holo stars on top of the trees.  Simple and quick.

These first three photos are taken indoors with artificial light, and the thee at the bottom are in natural clouded light.  In the clouded light you can also see a slight duochrome finish that shifts blue.  You can see in on my nail and more prominently in the bottle on the second last photo.  

The formula was great and I did two coats for what seemed like opacity, although looking at these photos there are a few thin patches that could have been evened out with a third coat.  But in real life, two coats is plenty because the reflective sheen means you don't see the gaps.

I'm excited to show you my swatches of the debut winter collection from SV by Sparkly Vernis.  If your are not already a follower of Sparkly Vernis, then you should jump over there and check it out.  She has wonderful layering combinations that will always inspire you and beautiful swatch photos.  I've been a long time reader of Sparkly Vernis, in fact well before it was Sparkly Vernis - when Albert Einstein stole her name! I even did a guest blog post there nearly three years ago!

The debut collection from SV by Sparkly Vernis is a set of 5 pastel holos.  They all have a wonderful formula and are easy two coaters - all these swatches are two coats with Seche Vite top coat.

All the polishes also have a metallic sheen to them which matches up the Frosted Treats collection name, and they are all linear holos too.  Let's take a closer look at them all.

Blurple Ice Cubes - a delicious blurple linear holo. Sometimes it looked a little more purple on me, but in these photos it looks more blue. It looks quite similar to Periwinkle Sprinkles but in real life the colour difference is quite obvious.

Cotton Candy Sugar - a sugary sweet pink linear holo with lilac undertones. 

Gilded Lemon Drops - Oh how I love cool toned gold polishes and this one is just perfect for me.  The holo finish is strong, but the gold metallic finish also gives it plenty of personality in low light. 

Mint Frosting - While I love green polishes, I'm not usually a huge fan of minty greens, however this one ticks the box for me.  The polish leans blue, so has a definite aquamarine feel to it for me.  Light mint greens like this can make my hands look red, but no redness in site for this one.

Periwinkle Sprinkles - This one is right up there with Gilded Lemon Drops as my favourite in the collection.  I love Periwinkle blue and this one is the perfect shade.  The holo effect is stunning, and it actually gets better the more the polish dries.  I rushed taking my photo of this one and my Seche Vite top coat wasn't totally dry, the result makes the holo look more scattered, but as I was taking my photos, the top coat dried more and as it did, more and more holo came out.
