Girly Bits - Fall Season Premiere Collection

Mid last month, Girly Bits Cosmetics released their fall collection of nail polishes that included nine shades.  The collection is themed around Pam's favourite TV shows premiering at the beginning of Fall, including Bones, The Family Guy and Saturday Night Live. I have five of them to share with you as well as a nail art design I created with some of them.

Dancing Phalanges - raspberry pink base with glass fleck shimmer which almost shines blue in the sun.  Smooth and gorgeous and easy to apply.  I did two coats here with Seche Vite top coat.

Gravedigger - a squishy purple leaning black jelly with lots of bright Halloween inspired coloured glitters in orange, fuchsia, purple, green hexes and squares, fuchsia dots, and purple iridescents.  I did three coats to ensure the jelly base was completely opaque for my photos.

King of the Lab - pumpkin orange glass fleck shimmer. Again the formula was excellent and easy to apply. This is two coats with Seche Vite. I can see myself getting plenty of use out of this polish given that our baseball season is about to start and the team colour is orange.

More Cowbell - a steel blue gray with a scattered holo finish and bue iridescent flakies.  I love the scattered holo finish to this, and the blue flakies, which show up more-so indoors. Perfect at two coats.

What the Deuce? - a kelly green holo shimmer.  This has the same holo shimmer as More Cowbell and I love the bright freshness of this colour.  I know it's a autumn/fall collection, but both this a More Cowbell also fit perfectly for spring.  This is two coats with Seche Vite.

I loved the matching holo shimmer in both More Cowbell and What's the Deuce?, and also the sping vibe that they gave me, so I decided to create a simple gradient with the two polishes.  I then stamped with Essie Shine of the Times and Messy Mansion plate 21 (scaly things).

Thanks for visiting as always.

Zoya polishes - I need more in my life

I was recently contacted by Aussie etailer Glitter Kitty Nails and Beauty to review some polishes from the range they stock.  Glitter Kitty only stocks brands that don't test on animals, such as Glitter Gal, Pretty Serious, Orly and Zoya.

I was excited to get some Zoya polishes.  I don't own many Zoya's because they not that easy to purchase here in Australia.  Looking at my spreadsheet I own 16 Zoyas, which means they make up less than 1% of my collection!  The Zoya polishes I was sent were Yasmeen and Adina and whist these aren't new polishes (they have both been around for many, many years) but they are both just divine!

Yasmeen - rich purple base with a dark pink shimmer. The formula is outstanding and it's opaque in two coats.  Perfect, just look at the shimmer!

Adina - has a medium lavender purple base with a silvery olive green shimmer.  Because of the lavender base I thought I would see what it looked like layered as one coat over Yasmeen.  Layered it really shows off the green shimmer.

Then I tried Adina just on it's own at two coats.  The pale lavender base base is so pretty and you get to see a completely different duochrome shift.

So now I've decided I need more Zoya polishes in my life.  I already have some Pixie dusts, last years christmas collection and the 'big guns' like Ivanka and Crystal. But what other Zoya secrets are out there for me to discover?

I'd love it if you could list off some of your favourtie Zoya's.  OK, Go!

Too Fancy Lacquer - The Bluemuda Trio and Tell Me A Sea-cret

Tonight I have some nail art and swatches of some lovely polishes from new to me Indie Brand Too Fancy Lacquer, based in Hong Kong.  All the polishes are beautiful holos and if you love blue polishes, then you are going to love this collection.

First up is my nail art, and I'm quite enjoying challenging myself in creating nail art with polishes that have been provided for review.  I used a base of Too Fancy Lacquer - Set Fire to the Rain and then placed a frame of gold hex glitter around the nail.  I used a Chanel water decal from the Born Pretty store on my ring fingers.  Sammy the Nailasaurus did a very similar design using round glitters and black polish during the 31 day challenge.

Now onto the swatches of these gorgeous lacquers.  First up is a collection of three blue holographics in the Bluemuda Trio.

Set Fire to the Rain is a sapphire blue linear holographic. The holo flame is more obvious in real life, my camera did dull it out a bit (in fact my camera tends to do that with most blue holos).

Bejeweled - bright turquoise blue linear holo.  Again, way more holo that my photos show.

Moody Blue is a dusty denim blue linear holo. Do I need to say that this is more holo in real life again?  Nope, I didn't think so (but too late, I already did).

Tell me a sea-cret is a sea foam green linear holographic. This one isn't part of the Bluemuda trio, but Carmen tells me it's one of  her most popular shades, and I can total see why.  It's that perfect turquoise shade with slightly gold sheen. As well as the holo sparkle that you just can't see in my sun photos!

You should check the swatch photos on the Too Fancy Lacquer website, because they capture the holo much better then I have managed to do today.

The formula on all these was perfect.  I did two coats of all the blue shades and three coats of Tell me a sea-cret. The blue polishes are all so beautifully pigmented, but still with the jelly-ish base that allows the holo sparkles to shine through.

Too Fancy Lacquers are available from their website and they do offer international shipping.
