The 31 Day Nail Art Challenge 2018

September is almost here, and that means the 31 Day Challenge is almost here, too!

But.... I have a problem this year. I am going overseas and travelling to the USA for all of September and October. Sadly I have not prepared 31 days of nail art, so I'm going to have to postpone my participation until later this year.

The good thing is that anyone can participate in the 31 Day Challenge whenever they want, or at whatever pace they want. I plan to participate in the 31 Day challenge in November 2018, when I return from our travels. This will be my 6th year participating and again I'm looking forward to the challenge.

This also means I wont be posting here on my blog for the next two months.  I will be back I promise, I'm just off travelling the world with the Fam.

As per previous years, I invite you to all to the challenge, whether you do it during September, or join me later in November (or in fact do it at any other time).

If you are unfamiliar with the challenge, check out the 31 Day Challenge FAQ and inlinkz to learn more. Looking for the inlinkz? they're on the same page.  I've made the inlinkz open through until the end of the year, so if you want to participate you have plenty of time to add your mani to the linkz. Don't forget that you can link to Instagram too.

Finally, make sure to use this year's hashtag: #31DC2018

Here are the 31 Day Challenge prompts for 2018! Feel free to share, repost, upload to your blog, put on Instagram, etc. Click to enlarge.

Will you be joining us? Let me know in the comments?

Digital Dozen does Tropical - Day 5 - Layered stamping

It's day 5 and I've really loved this week's theme.  Its totally put me in the mood for our upcoming vacation to the USA and Caribbean.

My final look ended up being so striking with the colour combo. It's just a simple layered stamping look, but the colours are all so bright and pop off each other.

Digital Dozen does Tropical - Day 4 - Tropical fish

Tropical fish, aren't they just so beautiful.  I always wanted to have a salt water fish tank with beautiful tropical fish, but they are so expensive to set up, and I really don't have a place to put one.

I started this mani with a gradient that was done with full shimmer polishes, but when I looked at it, it was way to busy to then add the fish water decals.  So I ended up adding a single sponging dab of a creme gradient.  This meant that some of the shimmer from underneath shone through, but it was crazy shimmery.

At the bottom of each nail I stuck on some shell charms and pearls, and I really shouldn't have, cause I such a nail fiddler when I add little accents like that. I end up rubbing my fingers over them all the time.

Digital Dozen does Tropical - Day 3 - Neon palms

Get your sunglasses out people, because these nails are bright!  I was inspired by a nail design I saw in google images, but it's not watermarked so I'm not able to determine who actually did it (and reverse image searches only take me to websites that are reposting the design).

Nothing says tropical like neon polish and palm trees.  The only change I would like to make to this mani is the stamp the palm trees rather than paint them freehand.  But I couldn't be bothered searching through all my plates to find one with a few different palm trees.  I tell you, when is someone going to develop and app that allows you to search for a stamping image by description and then bring back a list of plates across all the different stamping plate brands. I know I would sure pay for that!

Digital Dozen does Tropical - Day 2 - Flamingos

It's Day 2 on the Digital Dozen and I have finally recreated a design from a fellow blogger about seven years ago.  The design is from Sparkly Vernis and was used as per profile pic for a long time.  She still blogs a little bit, kind of like me, but I still read every post and look at every nail pic cause she has been around for just about as long as me.

When thinking tropical nails, I sure do think of Flamingos. I've never actually seen one in real life, but I'm hoping we can mark that check off the list when we visit the USA and the Caribbean in a few weeks time.

Digital Dozen does Tropical - Day 1 - Gradient with fern leaves

Whoo hoo, I'm back with another Digital Dozen week, and again another comment about the fact that I haven't posted anything since the last Digital Dozen week.  Once again I have wonderful reason for my absence.  We are just a few short weeks away from our grand epic adventure to the USA for 7 weeks - so we have been planning our arses off for that. Plus we decided we would renovate all our bathrooms whilst we were away, cause it's just easier to do it that way rather than be home for all the banging and building.  But that means we have been busy picking out tiles and fittings to ensure the builder knows what we want whilst we are away.  So year, blogging came a very long way down the list.

But, I am ready for the entire week, because I actually thought the Digital Dozen week was last week and pushed myself to get all my nail art finished, but it was a whole week early.

First up is a nice simple gradient with stamping.  You just can't go wrong with something like this. Although I do wish I was a bit more creative and attempted some double stamping, like @Clairestelle8, who was my inspiration for this art.
