Jade Psicodelica

I'm heading off on a vacation on Saturday for two weeks. I've been far too busy to arrange guest posts or anything, so my blog posts are going to be very sporadic over the next two weeks.  I have some draft posts with photos uploaded, so if I find time after the kiddos go to sleep and we are in the hotel room, then I'll type so words to go with the photos.  But if you notice me being very short and sharp, that will be the reason why.

Onto today's polish.

When I recently did my swatch comparison of all my silver holos, I discovered how awesome Jade Psicodelica was when compared to the other holos. So I decided to search my blog for my swatch photos and blog post about the polish.  That's when I actually realised that this amazing holo was still untried for me!  WHAT!

Naturally I put it on immediately.

GORGEOUS! That is all.

I actually thought I hit publish on this last night. I checked my blog this morning and no post. Whoops.

Enchanted Polish Austin Powers with a dupe?

I recently paid a rather obscene price to get myself this bottle of Enchanted Polish Austin Powers. I knew from the moment I saw it last year some time, that should I ever see someone selling their bottle, I would have to get it.  I don't have any regrets, because it's certainly is a magical gold holographic polish, and when it comes to gold polish, I just can't help myself buying them.  But it was only after I had this little beauty in my hand that it looked really similar to another polish I had, in fact, dupe worthy similar.  But lets first look at EP AP.

Enchanted Polish Austin Powers is a gold holographic polish that has gold flecks and small copper hex glitters. You can wear it alone as I did and it is opaque in two coats, you can also layer it over anything. You can see it layered over black at the Swatchaholic. Ah-maze-ing!.

OK, now it's time to check out the dupe.  This is Jade Holographico Irresistivel, which I purchased from Ninja Polish for just US$7 (just a tad under what I paid for EP AP).  It's a linear holographic polish with gold and copper glass flecks.

Want some side by side comparisons?  OK.  As you can see the colour on these two polish is nearly identical.  I say nearly, because when you look a the photo in the shade, you can see that Austin Powers is slightly yellower and Jade Irresistivel leans pinker.  And while Irresistivel doesn't have the copper glitters, it does have some copper flakes that give that multi toned gold appearance.  The holo flame in both polishes is indistinguishable to my eyes.

So what you you guys think?  Does this look like a pretty damn good dupe of one of the most expensive indie polishes going around at the moment?  And to think it's only $7!  The other thing that cracks me up is that the Jade polish only has a review rating of one and a half stars out of five on the Ninja polish site!  I think this just goes to show how a brand name around a polish generates the hype.

You know I've even googled "Enchanted Polish Austin Powers Dupe" many times before hoping to find a dupe of this polish.  I wonder why no one ever spotted this dupe pair before!

In case you want to grab yourself a bottle of this close dupe to Enchanted Polish Austin Powers, here is the direct link to Jade Irresistivel on the Ninja Polish site.

Breast Cancer Awareness

During October you would have seen a whole lot of nail art designs dedicated to showing support for breast cancer awareness.  The end of the month just run away with me with Halloween designs and I never got to show this.

I don't wear pink very often, so wearing this very bright pink mani was really a show of support from me.

I used Jade Delirio Rosa holographic pink and Ulta3 lily white with a holo topcoat on the ring finger.  I applied a pink ribbon sticker I received in a swap and stamped with Konad pink on top of the Jade polish.  You can't really see the stamping in the partial sun photos, but you could see it in the shade and indoors.

Jade Fascinio Violeta

I just checked the 'Find my iphone' app cause I couldn't find my ipad. There it is - the little dot showing it must still be sitting on my desk at work. Damn it! Now I'm going to be about 200 blog posts behind on Feedler tomorrow (and I wont even mention the stupid dragons I was wont be able to try breed tonight). Bugger.  I will just have to play with polish instead.

We've had lots of sunshine here lately, I can certainly feel summer on the way and soon the pool out back will be warm enough to swim in.  Sunshine = holographic polish, so I went through my significant pile of untrieds and selected this stunning holo.

Jade Fasicinio Violeta.  Bright squishy purple jelly holo.  Completely different to the finish to the Layla holos, and so unbelievably easy to apply. No special base required and no issues using fast drying top coats.  Those Brazilians really know how to make a holo polish.

I still have several Jade polishes that were sent to me by the wonderful Rafa at Nails Ink. *waves*  Now that the warmer weather in here, I know I will be wearing these Brazilian polish quite a bit.

Which is your favourite Jade holo shade?

Jade Magia Negra

Jade Magia Negra is one of the amazing Jade holographic nail polishes I received from Rafa at Nails Ink in Brazil.

Jade Magia Negra really sets the new bar when it comes to black holographic nail polishes.  If you only ever get one black holo, in my opinion, it should be this one!! Here are some reasons why:
  • It has fantastic coverage and is fully opaque at two coats.
  • The wear time is excellent.  I wore my mani for three days with zero sign of tip wear or chips.
  • It truly is one of the blackest holos whilst still retaining spectacular rainbow fire.
  • Quick dry top coat does not dull the effect.

The goldish sheen showing in this photo is apparent in this polish, but not as pronounced as this photo, where it is exasibated by the bathroom lighting.

On day two, I added some simple stamping from Bundle Monster plate 215. Stamped with China Glaze 2030.

Finally, for you comparison needs, here is HITS Zeus, Jade Magia Negra, Ozotic 526 and Layla Flash Black all lined up for a comparison.

Ozotic 526 is easily the blackest, but it's blackness also reduces its ability to let the holo shine through.  Ozotic 526 really is a one coater,  if it were a two coater maybe it would show its rainbow fire more.

Hits Zeus and Layla Flash Black are both most definilty dark grey holos.

Jade Magia Negra - most definitely my new favourite black holo.

Like I mentioned, I was gifted mine from a friend in Brazil, but you can get them online from Llarowe or Ninja Polish.

Jade Mystic Gold

Last week I received the most AMAZING belated swap package from the wonderfully generous Rafa at Nails Ink. The package she sent me contained 29!!! stunning Brazilian polishes.  She sent the entire Jade holo collection, the entire HITS Mari Moon collection, there were Rivka Holos, Ellen Gold duochromes, 5cinco flakies and a few other goodies too. I am still completely blown away by the amount of polish that was included in the little box.  This is one happy little nail polish addict rolling around on her beg amongst bottles of polish!

Choosing one polish to wear first was a real trial, in the end I chose Jade Mystic Gold.  1. because it was a sunny winter's day and 2) because it is the most amazing rich gold holo I have ever seen and I have nothing like it in my collection.

After wearing it for a day, I added some stamping from the new Bundle Monster plates, that I just had to order after seeing everyone wearing the new designs.

I really need to practice my nail stamping.  It's ok, but I wish I had stamping skills like the nailXchange. Practice makes perfect, right!

Love the Jade holos. They are a completely different type of holo polish compared to the Layla's.  These are jelly like, transparent by opaque.  Can't wait to wear them all. Thanks again Rafa - I have something special planned to send you!
