Femme Fatale exclusives - Contray Polish Vixen and Jindie To-Teally Awesome

I have swatches of two indie polishes that are exclusive to Australian nail polish etailer Femme Fatale Cosmestics.

First up is To-Teally Awesome by Jindie Nails.  I actually purchased this during the new year sale and it's been sitting in my untried stash since then.  I don't think it's still available so I'm sorry to show you a polish that you can't actually purchase anymore. But we all like looking at pretty things still, right?

As you can see, To-Teally Awesome is a teal green jelly polish with a bun of matte coloured glitters in it.  The base is very jelly like and even at three coats you can still see visible nail line.  I don't think you would be able to make it completely opaque, so it you don't that that look you should layer it over a matching base.

Contrary polish Vixen is only a new release and this one is available on the Femme Fatale site.  Vixen has a steel-blue base with a rose pink shimmer. This one is classic Contrary Polish style with an edgy colour and contrasting shimmer. Application is perfect and it's opaque at two coats.  I have such a crush on Contrary polishes!

Contrary Polish - On the Rocks Collection

I went missing there for two days, did you notice?  Probably one of the longest blogging breaks I've had here for a very long while.  I've been knocked out with an acute bout of tonsillitis since Wednesday night. Only this afternoon did I start to feel any semblance of normal again - yay for antibiotics! I was so sick I didn't even play with polish at all! No swatching, no nail art, nuffin, nada.  Thats when you know you are really sick! But I do have some photos ready that I did last weekend.

Tonight I have swatches of the Contrary Polish On the Rocks collection.  This was a winter 2014 collection, which meant it was released in about December or January. But I only recently got my hands on the collection, which is perfect timing with it just coming into winter here in the southern hemisphere.

Almandine - an oxblood red base with gold to green color shifting shimmer. The green shift was a little shy to come out for me, but the shimmer is so intense - check out the macro to see all the colours in that shimmer!  Lovely formula and opaque at two coats.

Dioptase - bluish green with antique gold and green shimmer.  This is a beautiful teal green shade and the shimmer is like tiny glass flecks.  I used three thin coats with top coat.

Fluorite - blurple with green to pink color-shifting shimmer.  Be still my heart.  Just look at how gorgeous this one is.  It looks like it has sapphire blue glass flecks as well as that shy colour shifting shimmer. This was three coats with top coat.

Graphite - muddy grey jelly with varied shimmer/micro-flakes - gold, silver, pink, grey. Because of the jelly finish this one has a really squishy look to it, and even at three coats the very tips of my nails have that sheer edge.  All the different micro-flakes in this really make it sparkle.

Obsidian - purple near-black jelly with green to blue color-shifting shimmer.  This one is another absolute stunner!  I did three coats to ensure total opacity, but the dark purple jelly base is just the perfect balance of tint and shimmer.  I was able to see the colour shift the most in this polish.  In direct light the shimmer is a sparkling green.  With the lighting from an angle the shimmer is a mix of purple and blue.

Tiger's eye - a bronzy brown with metallic gold shimmer.  This is such a gorgeous golden brown, and it is just perfect for the last day's of Autumn here down under.  The shimmer is so intense but the polish is still totally smooth.  This is two coats with top coat.

Contrary Polish - Spring 2014 Love Lyrics Redux Collection Swatches

A year after the Contrary Polish Love Lyrics Collection, Carrie has released a new spring collection called Love Lyrics Redux, this time inspired by the lyrics, rather than the titles of some of her favourite love songs.

The entire collection is a set of six very soft pastel shades with rich shimmers that I've come to love (and expect) from Contrary Polishes. Lets take a look.

Become yours - a very pale peach pink with an aqua blue shimmer.

Funny Yellow Shoes - a pale fleshy coloured yellow with a pink shimmer and microglitter.

Just a dream - a concrete grey jelly with silver shimmer and purple microglitter.

Make believe reality - pastel mint jelly with fuchsia and blue shimmer.

Strange Changes -  a green leaning grey jelly with copper shimmer and microglitter.

The gift you game - a lilac purple jelly with bright blue shimmer and microglitter.

The formula on these was all very consistent and easy to apply. They are quite sheer and jelly like and each of these swatches shows three thin coats.  These photos in the full sun tend to show a visible nail line more than you normally seen in real life wearing the polishes, but if you really don't like a VNL then you would want to wear four coats.  Dry time is good though, so that shouldn't be a problem.

I love the the soft, sparkly and squishy appearance all these polishes have.  My favourites are Make Believe Reality and The gift you gave.
