Bats - "This is Halloween Nail Art Challenge"

Bats - when we say bats at our house it means only one thing - these sorts of bats!  Did I nail the brief for today's challenge? (and yes, the pun was totally intended).

For my real Bat Halloween Challenge mani, I created a swarm of bats flying closer to you.

I used Kleancolor Metallic Orange for the base and then sponged on a black tip and ensured I left the spongey edge rough to give the effect of tiny bats.  I then used various sized bat stamps from the Bundle Monster plates. BM305 for the littlest ones and  BM213 for the larger ones, making the bats get bigger and bigger up the nail.

I based this design off a tutorial on YouTube, although her's are done completely free-hand where I have used stamps.

I was really happy with this design, although I'm not entirely sure why I chose to do an orange background again - I should have done some sort of night sky.  Sometimes its hard to get away from the traditional Halloween colours when doing nail art.

Gradient nails are up next, and while I love doing gradients, I have absolutely no idea what to create to make it halloween themed.

  6. Oh you.

Your real mani is awesome though. And I like the orange background. It makes it look like the sky is on fire or something.. which is extra scary. Very cool.

  8. This is really great. I think the orange background was a good choice. The bats really pop against it.

  9. Love your mind train going to BB bats! And you picked SF Giants colors - maybe just a fluke there (but I am still hopeful they can turn this around and end up in the WS)...thanks for the idea on the rough sponging edge to help create the look of a bevy of bats flying in the distant horizon. It worked great. Also love the glowing orange sky. I think I will try similar with ChG Riveting since I have that and not the Kleancolor you used...I like Kleancolor but don't see them sold around me - the ones I have came from evil bay.

    1. Ha ha, ESPN is on in the lounge with the Giants vs St Louis right now. I hope Barry Zito delivers for you.

The colours also match my husbands team here in Australia - the Canberra Cavalry.

  13. In Victoria we have the fruit bats flying around at dusk all the time, so that's where my mind went to when I saw the orange background! Love this look!!!

  15. Oh, no, I -love- the orange background! Especially when the light hits it, it looks like SUNSET, which is perfect for when bats are just flying out of their caves and swarming like this. This is amazing artwork. My bats aren't nearly as awesome. :)
