Jindie Nails - Talk Nerdy to Me & Candy Land

Another day, another new indie brand for me to try and you to see. Today it's Jindie Nails.

Talk Nerdy to me - Pale pink cream/jelly base with matte pink and blue hex glitter. Very easy application and smooth coverage in two coats.  The fine matte glitter dries a little gritty, so I did two thick coats of top coat.

Candy Land - I want to love this so much, in fact I really love the idea of this, but I have to say that I found it incredibly hard to get the glitters out of the bottle - even after standing it on it's head for ten minutes as instructed.  I don't think I ended up with any of the orange neon glitters on my nails at all.

Because I wanted to have some nice glitter coverage, I chose to wear this on it's own, rather than layering over white.  This was five coats, and even then my ring finger only got four pieces of glitter on it.  The final look was very sweet (pun totally intended) but I just wish I didn't have to do five coats to make it look like this.  On the up side, even at five coats, it dried very quickly and I was able to apply Seche Vite top coat and head to bed  minutes later and not end up with sheet marks on my nails.

Jindie Nail Polish is available from the Jindie Nails website (when open) and through Llarowe.

Sayuri Nail Lacquer - Fairy Kei & Love Sayuri

More polishes from Aussie indie brand Sayuri tonight following on from Mizurio and OShare that I showed last week.

First up is the base polish I applied my Sayuri polishes over.  This is Layla Softouch Effect polish in Stone. It's a soft and velvety matte finish polish that I picked up recently during the Ozsale Layla sale. Application was flawless and I can't wait to wear the other two colours I purchased as well (especially the beautiful soft gold!!).

Fairy Kei - this polish could be worn on it's own at about three coats, as it has a heavy shimmer that would achieve opacity.  It also contain matte aqua, lavender, and pink hexes of varying sizes, along with tiny iridescent purple glitters.  The strong shimmer tends to lean this a little frosty, but the glitters still show through nicely and don't look bumpy, as can often happen with shimmer/glitter combos.

Love, Sayuri - This one is without a doubt my favourite from the collection.  These photos don't do it any justice because it was just so perfectly glittery and pretty in real life.  Love, Sayuri is a special edition polish made for the launch of Sayuri lacquer, so I don't know how long this one might be around for.

Love Sayuri has a clear base and contains 10 different coloured holographic glitters. Rose pink, purple, and silver hexes of varying sizes, rose pink and turquoise blue squares, and rose pink and silver butterflies.

I tried to capture some of the pretty holo goodness of this polish under my bathroom light, but it in no way compares to how this one looked on my nails.  I love this polish so much!

Sayuri Nail Lacquer are currently having a mothers day sale and have 20% of all her polishes, bringing them down to $7.96.  They are available through the Sayuri Nail Lacquer website.

Naild'it Unique Nail Polish

I'm starting today by sharing a totally random comment from my Mr 5 to his Miss 7 cousin. "I'm going to get this strawberry, stick it in cat poo and put it in your ear".  He's a real charmer isn't he, but he makes me laugh every day!

Onto the polish now, I have a couple of polishes from Naild'it indie brand. This is another new indie brand for me (and that's not hard given the eleventy billion indie brands available now).

Mountain Fizzle Doo - This polish was inspired by the drink Mountain Dew.  Now I've never even tried Mountain Dew, but I'm guessing it's green and fizzy.  This polish looks quite creamy, but it's jelly enough to have the glitters from previous layers showing through.  I used three thin coats for these photos, taken in full sun.

Spring Fling - This polish is spring in a bottle.  There are silver butterflies flying around the pink flower glitters as well as the gold and purple highlights that remind me of a handful of wildflowers.  This was three coats photographed in the full sun.

Both polishes were easy to apply and and all glitters were smooth and flat.  I love glitter polishes that don't have to be layered on top of something else.  These feel a bit wrong for the season for me, but I will certainly be pulling these out again in about 5 months when spring pastel fever hits me again.

Naild'it unique polishes are available from her Etsy shop (when open) and through Llarowe.

New Picture Polish Collaboration Shades - Hope, Ocean and Shocked

On Monday, Picture Polish released another three blogger collaboration shades.  Lets take a look at them shall we?

Hope by Vernis en Folie - A dark teal blue scattered holographic with medium sized royal blue hex glitters.  I did find that most of the blue glitters were in the bottom half of my bottle and I only got on glitter piece on my nail, on the outer edge of my pinky.  I thought this was going to be very similar to Cosmos, but this is definitely has a green tinge and is certainly a teal shade and darker.  My photos show it a bit brighter than it is because they are in full sun. This is three thin coats with Seche Vite top coat.

Ocean by Kelly's Kolors - A bright turquoise blue jelly polish with scattered holographic particles. I'm super happy to see another Aussie with a collaboration shade - way to go Kelly! I thought this might be similar to Ozotic 617, but this is much more green leaning and jelly like compared to 617.  It looks lighter on the nail that it does in the bottle, but I'm sure if you wore more coats then it would look darker like the bottle.  This was three thin coats with no top coat. Sparkling and stunning.

Shocked by Shatter me Claire - a bright a rich hot pink with the scattered holographic finish.  Another Aussie with a collaboration shade - Whoo hoo.  I certainly remember Shatter me Claire's blog post about Tease during Blog Fest last year - who could forget that hair :).

I don't usually wear many pink shades, but this looked really great on me.  This polish fills a gap in the Ozotic 60 series too, as there is definitely no hot bright pink like this.  This was three thin coats with no top coat.  Really fabulous.

The new collaboration shades are available now from Picture Polish and their Network members.

Picture Polish Revolution as a top coat

As promised yesterday, tonight I have another mani featuring nail art foils.  Since I discovered how amazing Picture Polish Revolution was as a top coat on foils, I've had a complete renewal of my passion for foils.

A couple of years ago I bought a kit that had a bunch of colours in it with some glue.  I liked the effect, but I was never about to keep them looking good.  No matter which top coat I applied it would wrinkle the foil up and lose it's fantastic mirror appeal.  If I didn't apply top coat at all, then all the foil would be worn off within an hour.

Then, one day last month, for no apparent reason, I decided to try my sample bottle of Picture Polish Revolution as a top coat on the foil.  After I applied it I sat and watched the top of the foil, waiting for it to wrinkle like it aways does, only to be amazed that the foil was still perfect.

Since that discovery, I have purchased a whole bunch of new foil colours and finishes and am really enjoying integrating them into my nail designs.

Tonights' look features Ozotic Mr Big black with OPI Matte Top Coat on the index and pinky fingers.  I then applied nail foil glue to the tip and put on a nail foil in a dark mirror pewter shade.  Lastly I applied PP Revolution just to the foil tip.

On the two middle fingers, I applied Layla Mirror effect Metal Chrome as a base for beneath the foil.  I then applied glue and covered the entire nail in the same pewter foil.  Next I covered then whole nail with Revolution, painted the black tip, and then put the Matte top coat over the black tip.

I don't think these photos quite show how shiny the foils are.

This mani was edgey, chic and sophisticated.  I really loved it.

Picture Polish - Blogger Revolution

Oh how I love a new polish launch from Picture Polish.  And let me tell you I have been busting to share this one with you.

Today Picture Polish are adding two new polishes their line and together they form the blogger revolution. I love the play on words and the wonderful acknowledgement that the girls and Picture Polish are giving to all the nail polish bloggers out there.  When you think about it, the last year or two as certainly been a nail polish blogging revolution.

I'm going to start by talking about revolution, because I don't have any photos of it as a polish on it's own.  Revolution is a new glitter base coat.  It is water based but it is nothing like PVA/Elmers Glue or peel off base coats.  This is not a peel off base coat, but it is designed to make removing glitter polish easier.  Since I discovered PVA, I pretty much use it all the time when I wear any glitter polish,  If I don't, I will always use the foil method to soak off the glitter.  Using revolution means you don't have to use the foil method and you can rub off your polish in a quicker time that you normally could. I found that once the polish remover broke the glitter seal of the glitter polish and got to the base coat, it rubbed off quite well.

The second thing about revolution is, and this is something I kinda leaked a bit early, is that it is an amazing top coat for nail foils.  It truly is the first and only polish I have discovered that does not wrinkle foils. I've got another foil design to show you tomorrow night, but check back on these posts (Easter foils, Green foils and Jade and Gold) to see the perfectly smooth finish on foils that lasts for days!

Now onto Blogger. As you can see, blogger is a glitter polish that is totally jam packed full of medium and small glitters.  There are red, fuchsia, silver, yellow teal blue and sky blue glitters in two sizes.  A word of warning that this polish is uber thick.  I added some thinner to mine after painting my first three fingers cause I just found it a bit to hard to work with. After the thinner is was fine.

This was two coats of blogger, and while there are some small empty gaps on the side of my nail, two coats without any undies was all I needed.  I did end up putting three layers of top coat, because I love that glassy polish finish over a crazy glitter.

When applying this polish I dabbed the first coat it on and then wiped the second coat on like normal.  Here is a quick video I created last year about how I dab on a layer of polish.

I also believe that today is a big day for Picture Polish on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.  Today they officially open their Head Quarters.  Jules send me this sneak peak of what she has called 'Cathy's Corner"  Holy Crap people.  Seriously. Look at the photos on the walls.  My fingers are framed!! I think the word on the desk in the photo sums up my feelings about this!

That little plaque on the wall is a bio about me that I was asked to write - I'll put the text below for those of you that will never get to the Picture Polish HQ to see it - although I'm telling you, I'm definitely going to visit the HQ next time I'm up in Qld.
My name is Cathy and I write the blog MoreNailPolish.com.  I’m a thirty-something mum of two, who works full time in the IT industry and I like nail polish. A lot!

I’ve been ‘in to’ nail polish for as long as I can remember. For a very long time I just had a large makeup case that contained all my polishes (around 30 of them).   I distinctly remember buying my first Ozotic nail polishes in around 1999 or 2000.  They were a silver holo and a multichrome, I had never seen anything like them and I have been completely hooked on nail polish since then.

Around December 2009 I happened to finish a bottle of my favourite nail polish. Up until that time I had always purchased my nail polish through regular shops, but this time I wasn’t able to find a bottle anywhere.  I jumped on-line and started googling and came across a handful of excellent blogs.  After reading those blogs, my polish collection grew instantly in just a few months from 30 to about 200 polishes and I soon realised that I wanted to document my polish experiences.  By starting a blog I was able to share my fun with family and friends as well as justify to myself, the crazy need to buy more polishes.

Now my polish collection has reached an obscene number, and just about everyone I know wonders why I need umpteen versions of the same colour.  The truth is, even in a collection as big as mine, I don’t consider any of my polishes duplicates of each other.  I can see the subtle differences in every single one.  In fact a party trick I like to do is compliment the nail polish a complete stranger is wearing, and then comment on the brand and polish name.

I paint my nails nearly every day, not because I need to, but because I want to. I love the different finishes and effects that can be achieved so quickly with nail polish.  I usually spend about 15 minutes doing a simple manicure, but have been known to spend more than and hour working on some fancy nail art.

I love how accessible nail polish is.  It can be worn and appreciated by anyone and I truly believe that nail polish has no age limit.  I love that my mid 60’s mum can rock a glitter bomb manicure! It’s such a simple way for people to express their mood or style and you can completely change that look in such a short time frame.

The highlight of my blogging career would undoubtedly be the release of my Picture Polish Collaboration Shade – Kryptonite.  I’ve received so much positive feedback from women all around the world that have purchased the shade and loved it.
Anyway, what do you think of blogger?  Are you over glitter bombs because of the onslaught of indie brands, or is there no such thing as too much glitter?  I really quite love this polish and while I have alot of polishes that are made up with medium and small multicoloured glitters, none have this colour combination and appearance on the nail - at least in my collection.

Picture Polish nail polishes are available from Picture Polish directly or through their vast network on resellers around the globe.
