Digital Dozen shows Indie Love - Emily de Molly with Emojis + 26GNAI Things that are round

I'm a little bit late with my fifth Digital Dozen mani this week, but what I did manage to do was combine it with the 26 Great Nail Art Ideas Challenge prompt of 'Things that are round.

For the Digital Dozen, I'm showing some inide love to Emily de Molly. I have a massive collection of Emily de Molly polishes they are all such amazing colours.  This one is a few years old, infact it was released in December 2015 (I can't believe it was that long ago).  I know I swatched it at the time, but I don't recall wearing it as a full mani. The colour is called Empty Journal, and it's a rich shimmery blue with purple duochrome.  It applies beautifully and has such a wonderful metallic finish. 

For the 26 Great Nail Art Ideas Challenge, I pulled out these Emoji water decals.  I don't even remember where i purchased them from.  I think it was from the Born Pretty Store, and if it was, it was ages ago so I don't expect them to still have them for sale.  What I loved about these decals is that they were a solid colour. I thought I was going to have to apply a white polish coat behind them, but nope. This means you can wear them over any colour, not just a white mani. And in my opinion, they look pretty amazing over blue!

Messy Mansion stamping polishes and Emily de Molly shimmers and holos.

A few weekends ago I attended a local launch party for the new Messy Mansion stamping polishes. The afternoon was lots of fun, there were about 20 ladies there all having a play with stamping, learning techniques such as regular stamping, gradient stamping and lead lighting.  

I took the chance to catch up with some of my nail friends, including Hayley from Emily de Molly. Hayley had a couple of new polishes for me to try, so I promptly removed my existing mani and put on the new polishes and then had a play around with some of the stamping products.

I did two different designs, one on each hand, because that's just what you do at these sorts of things to make sure you try out a few different looks and different polishes.

This first one is Emily de Molly Savvy Trinket, which is a strong shimmery polish with gold to green to blue colour shifting shimmer in a purple base.  I stamped over it with a new Messy Mansion stamping polish called Royal Purple from their new stamping line of polishes. I also used the metal template from the Accessories Kit 2.0 to only stamp the 'V' part of the design.



On my right hand I applied Emily de Molly Iridescent Skies, which is one of three exclusive polishes created for the @hellaholocustoms members. It's a lavender pink holo with a purple shimmer.  I then did some gradient stamping using Petal and Hydrangea Blue Messy Mansion stamping polishes.

Let's also just admire my delightful hand pose with my right hand for a moment.  WTF.  My right hand will just not go where it needs to for a photo. Left hand, easy, it just falls into place. Right hand, I had to actually physically move fingers to even get it to look this good.


When I got home from the gathering I had to change my mani's so that all 10 fingers matched for work the next day.  This is what I ended up creating.

Again I use Emily de Molly Savvy Trinket as the base. I then did some gradient stamping using Mundo de Unas purple and gold polish and using DRK stamping plate XL Magic Garden. See I told you I keep using that plate!

I loved this so much.  The purple to gold gradient stamping really accentuated the duochrome appearance of this polish with it's purple base and colour shifting shimmer.





Hayley also gave me a bottle of Flatline. Ohhh WOW. These photos were taken on day two when the sun was actually out.  Look at that holo.  This polish really reminds me of OPI DS Original in terms of colour. I might have to put them side by side to compare how similar they are.

Emily de Molly - December 2015 releases

A change of pace tonight with some swatches, rather than nail art.  My blog used to be all swatches looking back over the years, but I just wasn't able to sustain it!  But there are a few select brands that I still love to share swatches of, and Emily de Molly is one of those.

Tonight I have polishes from the December 2015 release,  I know I did the October release, but I have no idea what happened to the November release.  I'm sure I have the polishes in my EdM drawer of my helmer, and I know one of them was Crystal Crown that I wore as a Christmas mani, but it looks like I never actually posted the November polishes.  My bad!

Anyway, I have four of the five polishes.  I didn't get the pink polish from the collection, because I'm just not that into pink polish very often.  But lets take a look a the four I did get.

Empty Journal - Ooooohhh me likey! Check out that glow.  This one is an electric blue foil with a great formula that was opaque at two coats. These photos were taken in natural diffused sunlight.





Major Themes - in the same style as Empty Journal, this is a pastel orange foil that is created with a strong gold shimmer.  This looks so magical in real life and again is so glowy.





Show Down - A purple leaning pink in some lights and a pink leaning purple in others.  This little chameleon has gold to green shifting shimmer and iridescent flakes, plus a soft sprinkling of silver holo glitter. This is three coats on it's own, and there is a slight visible nail line.  This one can easily be layered over darker shades for a complexly different look.





Understatement - yeah, so this polishes name is the complete opposite for what it is.  If you want an understated polish then this is not it! Red glitter polishes are the bane of my blogging photography life.  I can never, EVER, make them look even half as awesome as they do in real life. Understatement is a dark red jelly with gold ultra holo glitters and it is incredible.  This is two coats with Seche Vite top coat.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Christmas + clear jelly stamper

I've been missing in action this week. Sorry about that. I had a pretty big week at work with a number of things I needed to prepare for in the evenings, which meant they old blog got bumped to a lower priority.  The first was a presentation to the entire division that I work in at our end of year Divisional meeting.  Then on Friday I had a job interview for a position I have been acting in for the last 2 years.  So all in all it was a pretty stressful week!

This weeks theme for the 40 Great Nail Art Ideas Challenge is Christmas and luckily I had prepared this mani last week for our work Christmas party, because I pretty much didn't even do nail art this week, I just had nicely polished regular nails.

The base for this mani is Emily de Molly Crystal Crown.  It's almost in the white holo category, but it's probably just the slightest shade of pale grey.  What I love about the shade is the strong gold shimmer that it has, which really seems to neutralise the grayness of the polish. Perfect formula too, this was two thicker coats.

My stamping for this mani was done using a clear jelly stamper and the plate is CSJ01 - Christmas tree plate.  I purchased this plate from Clear Jelly Stamper and had it included with my replacement flower plate.  When I originally purchased my Clear Jelly Stamper, I did it through a group buy with some other Australians. At that time I purchased the original CSJ01 plate with flowers on it, but I was unable to pick up any of the images on it with the jelly stamper.  I contacted CJS and they were fantastic. They said they did have a few plates slip through that weren't etched deeply enough and that they would send me a replacement plate.  I'm pleased to say that the replacement plate is much better, and I will have a mani using that plate soon.

If you are having trouble picking up images with your Clear Jelly Stamper, I find the technique that works for me is roll across the image quickly, rather than pressing straight down, or doing it slowly.

Emily de Molly - October releases

Oh my I've been so super busy with life.  I can't believe it's already mid October.  I remember when I was a kid that time went so slowly. School terms dragged on and holiday's lasted forever. My mum always said times goes faster as you get older, and it's so true!

It's time for some new releases from Emily de Molly.  These seven new shades will be available from this Thursday 22 October.

Lets get straight into the swatches, cause we all know that's what you are here for.

Anywhere but here - a wisteria purple with a metallic sheen and linear holo.  Shown here at two coats with Seche Vite top coat.





Worn with some silver stamping using Messy Mansion silver stamping polish.


Fixed course - a rich and pigmented teal green with linear holo. Shown here at two coats with Seche Vite top coat.





Worn with gold stamping using Mundo de Unas Gold and EdM 04 plate.


Heavy Aura - an ever so pale, greyed out pink with a liner holo and a golden shimmer. Shown here at two coats with Seche Vite top coat.




Worn with black stamping using EdM 05 plate.


Meet my fate - a royal blue jelly with blue flakies and pinky red flecks. Shown here at two coats with Seche Vite top coat.





Worn with a feature nail from Moyou sailor 04 plate.


Open Season - a warm purple jelly with blue glitters and red micro glitters.  Shown here at two coats with Seche Vite top coat.






Worn with blue stamping from EdM 21 plate.



Scorched earth - I want to call this orange, but it leans pink making it more coral than a pure orange.  Strong linear holo.  Shown here at two coats with Seche Vite top coat.





Worn with black stamping from BM-H06 plate.


Viridescent - super soft pastel green with a strong linear holo and a golden sheen. Shown here at two coats with Seche Vite top coat.





Worn with black stamping from EDM12 plate.

As usual, the formula on all these polishes were excellent.  They were all opaque in two coats, even the two pastel shades. Dry time was also good and I was able to stamp on these very soon after applying Seche Vite top coat. 
 
These seven new shades launch on Thursday morning Australian Eastern Daylight Time 22 October  on both the Australian Emily de Molly website and the US website at www.emilydemolly.com.
