40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Kids TV - My Little Pony

This weeks theme for the 40 Great Nail Art Ideas is Kids TV.  My kids used to watch a lot of TV, but probably spend more time on their ipads these days.  Popular choices for me would have been anything from the Disney Junior channel, maybe some Minnie Mouse nails, or Doc McStuffins, or Sofia the First, all popular with my 5 year old daughter.  But when it really comes down to it, there is only one show that she knows everything about and who's who.  That's My Little Pony, Friendship is Magic series.  I've gotta say, it's ridiculous how entertaining the show is and how you can easily catch yourself watching it when it's on.!

I've done plenty of MLP nail art in the past, but this time I went with an easier free hand route with some cuite mark nails of the mane six ponies.  I shared the space on my thumb for Rarity and Apple Jack.

Needless to say, Miss 6 was impressed and wanted me to paint her nails straight away.  But I'm a bit over painting her nails cause she's still a picker.  Nothing lasts 24 hours on her!

My Miss turns Five

Quick post tonight to share photos of the nails I did for my daughters fifth birthday this last weekend.

Firstly, can you believe that this little bubba is now five! I sure can't.  You can see her growing each year, with my birthday mani, turning one, turning two, turning three and turning four!

It's no surprise that we held a My Little Pony themed party, in fact we held a My Little Pony Pool Party and we had about 19 five year olds over all playing in the pool and on our waterslide.

Here are the nails I did.  I used some My Little Pony nail stickers that she got from Christmas (yes, I'm that mother that stole her daughters nail stickers!)  I have tried to do a mani for her using these, but they are thick and don't stick all that well, and therefore a ripe for picking for her little picky fingers.  I used three layers of top coat to get all the edges stuck down nicely, plus I can control myself when there is a little bit sticking up.

I had a different pony on each finger, framed with a different glitter from the Color Club Beyond the Mistletoe collection from 2012.

I even took a photo of my Cinderella hand.

Here is the birthday cake I made.  To match the My Little Pony Pool Party, of course I did a My Little Pony Pool cake.  I remember having a swimming pool cake when I was about 5 or 6.

Here is a photo for blog posterity sake, Mr 7 and Miss 5.  Where does the time go!

And the obligatory, cake and nails shot!

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Cartoons and Comics - My Little Pony

This weeks theme in the 40 Great Nail Art Ideas challenge is Cartoons or Comics. This provided me another opportunity to create some more My Little Pony Nail art.

Today we have Princess  Celestia. I wanted to try out the stamping image of Princess Celestia on Moon Nail Supplies NS3 plate. Unlike the previous image I used from the Moon Nails plate, which was Pinky Pie, this one is a solid image.  Pinky Pie was an outline which meant I could colour it in like a decal.  I wish this one was an outline only.  I tried to paint on top of the stamping to put her flowing hair, but the whole thing looks a bit washed out.

On my other nails I have Princess Celestia's cutie mark, which is the golden sun, and wavy free hand lines that represent her hair.

And just like my previous MLP manis, I had to do Miss 4's nails too.

Picture Polish Wanderlust with MLP Pinkie Pie

A few weeks back I saw some new stamping plates on facebook group Adventures in Stamping, by Moon Nail Supplies. The plates I saw had a whole range of My Little Pony images on them.  This is plate Moon NS1, (NS3 is the second one). There was no way I could resist buying the plates given my daughters obsession with all things MLP.

I also recently received Picture Polish Wanderlust in the mail which was just the most perfect pink polish to pair up with Pinkie Pie (oh that line is almost a tongue twister).

I created a decal for Pinkie Pie using my Uber Chic mat, colouring it in with Picture Polish Fairy Floss and Hot Lips.

Wonderlust is a gorgeous bright candy pink with a strong blue shimmer and a fine sprinkling of scattered holo. Coverage is great and is shown here at two coats. Wonderlust is a collaboration shade with Canadian Instagrammer Manal aka Naildecor.

Of course Miss 4 had to have matching Pinkie Pie nails!  She managed to keep these on for more than 24 hours before picking them off.  I figure if she can wear a mani for as long as me, then she's doing ok, but I've told her I will only paint her nails once a week, so if she picks them off earlier she will have naked nails until the weekend.

Picture Polish Wanderlust is available from Picture Polish. International readers may be able purchase through one of the many Network stockists if they have this in stock.
Polish provided for consideration.

31DC2015 - Violet - My Little Pony Twlight Sparkle

I must confess, I actually did these nails before the challenge started.  Miss 4 had been asking and asking for Twilight Sparkle nails ever since we did Rainbow Dash nails together. I totally forgot to get a shot of our nails together this time unfortunately. After I had finished editing the photos I realised how perfectly these fit the Violet prompt of the 31 Day challenge, so I hung onto them to post today.  Plus is gave me an extra day up my sleeve to ensure I got all the prompt completed.

The base shade here is the new version of Picture Polish wisteria. Twilight is painted using wisteria, flirt and violet femme, over a base of beige.  The dark blue polish is Cult Nails Time Traveler, with a drop of white added to make it a touch lighter.

My Little Pony - Rainbow dash

My four year old daughter is kind of into My Little Pony, and when I say kind of, I mean rather obsessed.  The loves the cartoon, has a couple of My Little Pony build-a-bears and a bunch of full outfits with rainbow leggings, t-shirts and jackets all with pony's covering them.  She has been to two My Little Pony birthday parties in the last month and has already requested a pony cake for when she turns five next year. She's also a walking encyclopedia about My Little Pony, I was quickly corrected when I was talking about 'those things on their butts' and advised 'they are called cutie marks'.

So the fact that I've now promised to do her nails every week with a different pony design was only a matter of time.  I've also promised her that I would do matching nails with her.

Doing free hand nail art is not my forte, but this one actually turned out pretty good, even on my Cinderella hand where I had to paint with my left hand!  I'm thinking my series of My Little Pony nails are going to have a pattern to them.  Middle finger will be the portrait, ring finger will be the cutie mark, and the other fingers will be related and supporting imagery.

I start my series with her favourite pony - Rainbow Dash. She's already told me that Twilight Sparkle is next!

Our matching nails. Her canvas are so small still it's hard to fit in the details!

Holding Rainbow Dash's butt so show the cutie mark with my nails.
