Hits Holographic - Hefesto

I really wasn't planning on wearing this polish on it's own as I had already worn it as a top coat twice.  But after reading some comments from my lovely Brazilian followers who said it had the most shine and was their favourite polish in the collection, I decided to wear it as a full mani today.

Hefesto is designed to be a holotop coat, but here I have applied four coats.  I thought with four coats it would be squishy and dentable for hours, but I was able to put on Seche Vite top coat and go to bed all within 30 minutes of doing this mani (and no sheets marks).

At four coats, this is opaque, even though the photos show a slight nail line.

This one doesn't have the same strength of metallic silver in it,  which means that on it's own this one is much more holo that the silver polish Artemis.  These first three photos were taken in full early morning sunlight.

These next three photos were taken indoors under artifical light.

I'm still wearing this and haven't had a chance to do a comparison swatch of this against Artemis and Ozotic 509, but I will this weekend.

Thanks ladies for the recommendation to wear it on it's own, it really is one of my favourites from the collection too.  Certainly one with the strongest holo effect.  And for the record, it's an amazing holo top coat, which is what it was designed to be.

Hits Holographic - Artemis

Here is the last of the Hits Holographic polishes, the silver holo Artemis. I also have Hefesto, the top coat, which I have used a couple of times already, and showed it on the Mish Mash comparison post.

Artemis is similar to Hermes, in that it is a metallic holo.  Hermes is the gold version, Artemis is the silver version.  As you can see, where the light hits this polish it is metallic and reflective.  I like the finish a lot cause it means the polish looks a bit more interesting in low light.

The holo effect, because of the metallic base, isn't as prominent as some of the other colours in this collection.

Formula was good for this one, nice and smooth. It is still a sheer polish though. This was three coats and there was still a visible nail line.

So here is yet another silver holo comparison.  I chose the polishes from my collection that may be the most similar.  From left to right: Artemis, China Glaze OMG, Ozotic 509 and s 1500-20 Spranken.

My original spectrafranken is the closest match. Ozotic 509 the most holo, and China Glaze OMG has much, much finer particles.  All these were three coats.

To sum up the Hits Holographics collection in one word.  Amazeballs! or should I use Awesomesauce! either way, this is a top notch collection which you should try to get your hands on if you can.

I'm so happy I've made some lovely contacts in Brazil (you know who you are!) who I can do nail polish swaps with.  Brazil have some fantastic polish lines and collections and I have some more coming in the mail to me soon.  I can't wait.

Hits Holographics - Hestia

Exhausted. Me go sleep now, you look at pretty pictures of Hits Holographic Hestia.

Loved this one. Great holo, nice formula, unique pinky mauve colour not duped in any of my holos.

Hits Holographics - Afrodite

I found it!  The only Hits Holographic polish that I'm not going to rave about.  This is Afrodite and it's a candy pink, rather frosty looking, slightly holographic polish.

The formula of this one was tricky for me.  It was thick and gluggy and remained streaky on the nail, thick ugly lines kinda streaky.

The colour is pretty.  It's a bubblegum pink to me.

The holo in this one was a little disappointing compared to the holo effect in the other polishes in this range.

I'm not a frosty polish hater, in fact I don't mind them at all and think there is certainly a place for frosty polishes in my collection.  But I not sold on the frosty and holographic look together, the frostiness seems to take away from the holo goodness.  Ozotic 524 is in the same "frosty holographic" boat as this one. Meh!

Next I did a comparison next to other pink holos.

Left to right: Afrodite, Ozotic 522, Ozotic 511, Ozotic 516.
Ozotic 516 on the ring finger is a rather good colour match, but it's holo is much better.  516 on the pinky finger is a much bluer shade of pink.  But my favourite by far in this group in the magnificent Ozotic 522, shown on the middle finger.

Lastly in the shade to show the base colour differences.

See, I don't rave about every polish.  It's hard not to rave about a holographic, but really this one was just rather Blah!  Maybe I got a dud one, maybe it was because it was hot and 29 degrees when I swatched so it glugged up.  I'd send it off to a new owner, except the hoarder in me needs to keep the whole collection together.  Sorry.

Hits Holographics - Poseidon

Sorry I skipped the rest of the Hits Holographics, I got a little side tracked with the top coats and new Ozotics. Only a couple to go, which I will finish up with this week.

Here is Hits Holographic Poseidon.  A pretty light blue holo.  This was two coats and there is a tiny bit of a nail line in the photos that really wasn't there in real life (I swear!).

This is how it looks in the shade and indoors.

Next a comparison with the other blue holos I have.  From left to right Poseidon, Ozotic 512, Ozotic 515 and Nfu Oh 65.  First in the shade.

And now in the sun.

Incredibly, even the two most similar ones Poseidon and Ozotic 512 are still slightly different colours.  I actually think Poseidon has a tiny bit more holo appearance that the Ozotics (but of course Nfu Oh 65 is from another planet entirely)

The formula was beautiful on this one and applied smoothly with no bald spots.  Not a unique colour, but certainly worth adding to your list if you don't own a light blue holo yet.

Hits Holographics - Atena

Back to the Hit's holographics today, and a post with few words, so I can get on with doing some frankening this evening.

Atena, or the English translation Athena, is (according to Wikipedia) the goddess of wisdom, courage, inspiration, civilization, warfare, strength, strategy, female arts, crafts, justice, and skill.  I like that for strong, femaile god they chose this strong bright pink holo.  In the bottle this is a rich magenta, but on the nail it seems more pink.  Perfect application again.  Good strong holo again. Love it. AGAIN!

I did not do a comparison with any other polishes, because I don't have any other holos in my collection that are even close to this colour.  None of my Ozotics / Chemistry's / Artforms.  YAY to no dupes!  Is there an OPI DS that is close to this??

Hits Holographics - Hermes

I am waiting on so many things to arrive in the post it's not funny.  And I've been waiting for several weeks for some of them.  I just received my TKB order yesterday that was shipped three weeks ago.  I can't believe how slow international post is at the moment.  I guess it's because so many people are shopping online now and the mail services haven't work out yet how to manage the increased load.  Are you waiting for any international goodies in the post?

But I did get one awesome package in the mail today.  It's from an Aussie beauty supply company where I was able to purchase suspension base, or what they called untinted thickened lacquer base.  I got a whole litre of it!  I also got various 125ml bottles of tinted bases to do a whole lot of mixing and a whole stack of awesome looking glitters and pigments.  There is so much stuff I just don't know where to start frankening. I will do a post about what I got soon, but I was so excited to get suspension base from Australia I just had to share.

On to today's swatch.  Hermes. I just Googled Hermes to find out about him and Wikipedia tells me he is the messenger from the Gods to the Humans (as well as being the patron to many other things).  I think that is pretty funny that I was just rabbiting on about waiting to get my mail (or messages) from overseas, and now here I post about the messenger of the Gods (maybe all my packages will arrive tomorrow).

Sorry, I was rambling again. Where was I? Hermes, right.  I thought this one looked great in the bottle because it was such a 'me' colour - ie gold.  The weird thing about it though, is that it is also slightly frosty.

This was three coats, plus SV top coat.  It's a pale champagne platinum gold., with a metallic, slightly frosty finish.

But it only looked frosty at some angles, at other angles it just looked metallic and holo.  So far this is the most metallic looking of all the Hits Holographics.

So how does this compare to other goldish holos in my collection?  Here is a comparison with China Glaze FYI, Hits Hermes, OPI Opening Night Gold and Ozotic 514.  And when I say Ozotic 514, I mean Chemistry or Artform 514, cause I've not seen an Ozotic version. Sorry!

Same lineup in the sun.

Colour wise, it is closest to 514, but with a much more metallic finish.  Opening night gold is too brown in comparison, and FYI too tan.

Because of the slight frostiness, this one is a little harder to apply, as you'll want to make sure your lines are straight.  Other than that, I still love it.  But I love gold polishes, they make up the biggest percentage of my stash, so I'm most definitely have bias!

Hits Holographic - Hera

Hera. Wikipedia tells me she is the wife and one of the three sisters of Zeus.  Wife and sister? WTF?  I've always known Hera to be the queen of the gods, so I'm sticking with that.

Hera reminds me of my Aquamum spranken. Although this one is most definitely more of a teal colour compared to my spranken, but I think my spranken is more holo :)

Perfect application again. This was two coats with SV top coat. SV top coat does not dull these beauties.

The only other holo I have that is a similar colour is China Glaze DV8 from the OMG collection.
Here is a comparison of the two in the shade. DV8 is still slightly bluer.  The base jelly colour in Hera reminds me of China Glaze Atlantis.

As you can see, the holo effect on these Hits polishes is much more like the Ozotic and Glitter Gal polishes (and Spectraflair 1500-35).  There is still nothing like the OMG collection.  Nothing with rich colours and a strong linear holo.

Another lovely Hits polish, and unbelievably no other holo in my collection is like this one either.  I love that they are not dupes of the Ozotics.
