Wave of Polish - Pregnancy and Infant Loss awareness day

Today is Pregnancy and Infant Loss awareness day, and to show my support I wore a pink and blue mani.

I used Bourjois Rose Lounge for my base and Shimmer Julia (blue) and Sonia (pink) to create a glitter gradient.  Shimmer Polishes are so perfect for glitter gradients. I've worn Julia before, but I've not used Sonia before.  Sonia is such a pretty mix of small pink, lavender, gold and holographic glitters.  These two Shimmer shades goes so perfectly together.

Don't forget that all the WAVE auctions are ending tonight. I'm so thrilled to see all the money that Theresa has arised, and I'm excited to see who ends put winning my bottles so I can put together a special package for you.

Shimmer Spam Take 3

Shimmer polishes are definitely one of those brands that look so much better in real life than in photos.  Every time I put one on I'm reminded of this and I find I get quite a lot of compliments when wearing these.

I've seen so many swatches of Shimmer Polishes and really none of them have wowed me and it's not because those ladies aren't taking great photos, it's just because they don't look as awesome in photos for some reason. If you've never tried a Shimmer polish and you like glitters, then I highly recommend trying one or two out in your favorite colour combinations, because they really are very pretty.

Fanny - Two coats over Ulta3 Mulberry.

Jennifer - Two coats of Gelicious Thankful.

Karen - One coat over Ulta3 Violet Rumble

Kim - One coat over Dance Legend Thermo #161

Mary - Once coat over Dance Legend Thermo #170

Tiffany - Once coat over Dance Legend Thermo #174.

Glitter over thermal polishes = amazingly awesome - I highly recommend any combination. but saying that, I think my favourite out of this lot was Jennifer over Gelicious Thankful (maybe it's the gold glitters in there that just suckered me in)

Shimmer Spam - yes more of it!

I've recently swatched some polishes that made perfect undies for my collection of Shimmer Polishes, so it would have been crazy not to double up and reuse my first swatch as an undies for my next swatch.

For your viewing pleasure, here are another bunch of beautiful Shimmer polishes.

Adrienne - Two coats over Furless Baby Cakes

Carolina - glitter gradient over Gelicious Open Toe.

Christina - 2 coats over Furless Freak

Leslie - Two coats of Orly Harmonious Mess

Melissa - Two coats over Furless Attention Seeker

Strength - Two coats over Orly Pretty Ugly. Its worth noting that the bigger silver hexes in this were rather thick and chunky and appear to be a little unstable in the base.  The macro at the bottom shows the weird wrinkling and pitting of those glitters.

I'm still loving these Shimmer polishes.  They really do look so much better in real life than these photos.  Every time I put one on I'm always pleasantly surprised.

My favourite combo out of this lot would be Adrienne over Baby Cakes at the top. The combo of blue and gold is just so pretty.

Shimmer Spamalama

I think Shimmer polishes are really pretty, and generally unique in indie polish world. Cindy has stuck to one concept, which is fine glitter combos, and her polishes are very wearable and adaptable because you can use them on their own or for layering.  But I do feel that the blogosphere is a bit saturated with Shimmer polishes, it seems every second blog post is read is about them.  I think it's marvellous that Cindy provides her polishes to bloggers to increase awareness of her brand, but it makes me wonder if there is such a thing as sending press samples to too many people?  I dunno, what do you guys think?

That said, I have some more Shimmer polish swatches to share. Thanks for sticking around to look at them, unless you already jumped off cause it's Shimmer again :)

Airriann - Two coats layered over Crowstoes Birthday Suit.

Elsa - Two coats of Crowstoes The Season of the Witch.

Erica - Two coats of Crowstoes Green Thumb of Doom.

Sophie - Two coats over Crowstoes Tequila Sunrise

Tracy - Two coats over Crowstoes Toxic Buttercup.

Wendy - Two coats over Crowstoes L'il Miss Cyanide.

Do you remember my Crowstoes Spam last week, did you see what I did there with the double up swatches for undies - I was the swatching boss that day!  What I did love doing was, while I had the Crowstoes polish on my nails, browsing through my Shimmer Polishes to see which one was the best match.  It was incredible that every Crowstoes I wore seemed to have a perfect matching Shimmer (then again, there are so many Shimmer combos, it's not actually that incredible at all).
