Shimmer Spamalama

I think Shimmer polishes are really pretty, and generally unique in indie polish world. Cindy has stuck to one concept, which is fine glitter combos, and her polishes are very wearable and adaptable because you can use them on their own or for layering.  But I do feel that the blogosphere is a bit saturated with Shimmer polishes, it seems every second blog post is read is about them.  I think it's marvellous that Cindy provides her polishes to bloggers to increase awareness of her brand, but it makes me wonder if there is such a thing as sending press samples to too many people?  I dunno, what do you guys think?

That said, I have some more Shimmer polish swatches to share. Thanks for sticking around to look at them, unless you already jumped off cause it's Shimmer again :)

Airriann - Two coats layered over Crowstoes Birthday Suit.

Elsa - Two coats of Crowstoes The Season of the Witch.

Erica - Two coats of Crowstoes Green Thumb of Doom.

Sophie - Two coats over Crowstoes Tequila Sunrise

Tracy - Two coats over Crowstoes Toxic Buttercup.

Wendy - Two coats over Crowstoes L'il Miss Cyanide.

Do you remember my Crowstoes Spam last week, did you see what I did there with the double up swatches for undies - I was the swatching boss that day!  What I did love doing was, while I had the Crowstoes polish on my nails, browsing through my Shimmer Polishes to see which one was the best match.  It was incredible that every Crowstoes I wore seemed to have a perfect matching Shimmer (then again, there are so many Shimmer combos, it's not actually that incredible at all).

Polishes provided for review.

  1. I'm not personally a huge Shimmer Polish fan, and I totally agree that it seems to be everywhere at the moment ;P, but I keep looking anyway in case any starts to grow on me. Especially with glitters, I find that the choice (or lack) of a base polish can make a huge difference, so sometimes one blogger does swatches which don't wow me at all, but then another uses the same polish over a different base and I'm in love! In the end, it's just more manis for me to enjoy looking at, so I'm not going to complain :) Beautiful swatches, as always. I think Wendy's my favourite :)

  3. The matching undies is really what makes these swatches great. Sure the shimmer polishes are lovely but I wonder if someone hasn't thought of selling undies and shimmer (or any glitter) as a duo pack.

  8. I really like your choices of 'undies'.

I do think that Shimmer Polish has saturated the blogosphere, but I think it's very smart marketing. I realize there are some of us that read so many nail blogs that we see the same polishes over and over, but I've also noticed there are some folks out there who only read a couple of them. And some who only read beauty blogs, not ones that are only dedicated to nails. So she may feel she needed to get as much exposure as possible.
