I reckon I could signal an aeroplane from a deserted island with the sun reflecting off these nails.  How cool do they look!!

Clearly these are some foils. A pinky peach colour, applied over two coats of Ulta3 Romance.  The lines on the nails form naturally because of the type of foil and how it curves around the nail.  I have really curvy nails, so if you nails are flatter, then you wouldn't see as many lines.

This is the foil that I used.  In the shade you can see that it is a peach coloured holographic metallic.

This was just awesome, but... I thought I would test out comments that you MUST apply a top coat otherwise these just disappear.  Its true.  You MUST apply a top coat.  I can't stress that enough.  I didn't cause I loved the absolute holoness of the finish, and within three hours this was nothing more that a few metallic flakes on my nails.  Of course you will have to experiment with top coats to find one that wont wrinkle and take the holo finish away. 

So far I have tested Ulta3 top coats and Seche Vite and neither of those work well with foils.  Australis Top and Base coat worked ok. 

Following from yesterday, here are three more frankenpolishes made with pigments from TBK trading.

These three are from their 'sparks' collection.

Gold sparks

Here it is on its own on the index and ring fingers, over black on the middle finger and over lemon pop on the pinky.  Two coats on all.

Purple sparks

In the bottle.

Here it is on its own on the index finger, over black on the middle finger, over Ulta3 Spring Break on the ring finger and over grape pop on the pinky. Two coats on all.

Red sparks.

Here it is on its own on the index finger, over black on the middle finger, over Ulta3 Bo peep on the ring finger and over raspberry pop on the pinky. Two coats on all.

These made great top coats, with a super sparkly, metallic finish.  I love the look over dark polishes, on black they look amazing.  My only issue again is that they really settle in the bottle and need a big shake to get moving.

Here are three frankens that I again made up ages go and never posted about.

All three used Ulta3 clear polish as the starting polish, to which I added about a teaspoon of each of these pigments. 

Again I got the pigments from TBK Trading and bought the "pop sampler" pack, which gave me about 7 different 'pop' colours to try. 

First up, Lemon Drop Pop

And on the nail it has a shimmery, smooth finish.  No streaks and pretty good coverage for a yellow polish.  I think this was three coats.

Grape Pop.

 

Again it had a really good shimmer to it, which isn't really captured in these photos as it was a overcast day.  No streaks and it wasn't frosty, although this one was sheerer on the nail.

Raspberry Pop

Probably my least favourite of the three, its a bit too much of a sugary pink for my liking.  The finish on this was also a bit more frosty, although it wasn't streaky. 

I was really happy with these polishes, but they do settle in the bottle, which means you have to shake the crap out of the bottle (which each have two balls in them) for about 10 minutes to get the colour all mixed up again.

This was a new polish brand for me, Chi Chi.  I bought this from Target and they have an ok range of colours.  I old bought this one because it was a colour I didn't have.  It's called Punk Off. 

This was three coats, with no top coat.  The formula was good, but a little too sheer.  You can see a slight nail line after three coats.  I was hoping to be able to konad with this, but it's just too sheer for it to work.  Would be a nice base coat though. I still love the colour!

Love this polish.  I also have done a comparison with this against Ulta3 Envy.

Today I have a frankenpolish that I made up ages ago and never got around to posting.

I made this up using a bottle of white polish from Totally Beautiful Nails (a cheap Aussie brand) and then added about a teaspoon of Ultramarine Blue pigment that I got from TBK Trading.  It made a a strong creamy bright blue polish.  A really simple frankenpolish that anyone could do.

Below shows the first time I swatched this.  This was two coats without a top coat.  As you can see, there were still tiny granules of pigment left on the nail which made it look slightly rough.  A nice layer of Seche Vite covered that right up, as you can see in the top picture.

I have posted this polish in my gold comparison, and I did promise to swatch it separately.

I originally saw this polish on Scrangie's blog when searching for good gold polishes.  This one really is fantastic.  Indoors, it's a dark gold without too much sparkle, but in the sun it POPS.

Any how, first up, here is my little girl at two days old, who arrived on 14 Jan.

And here she is in the bath yesterday at two weeks old.

And here are her gorgeous little finger nails.  She has lovely long fingers with long nail beds.  Guess who can't wait to paint them one day!!
