31 Day Challenge - Day 18 - Half Moons

I really struggled with thinking of something for the half moon theme for today.  I've only every done one other half moon manicure, and that was the gradient halfmoon skittles. I loved that mani so much and I was stuck trying to think of a different half moon combo.

I ended up just creating this mani as I went along, with no pre-planned idea in my head.  As a result I painted this mani in the most difficult way, I could have done it a lot easier.

I started with a white base and stamped the vertical stripes.  I then taped off the half moon using reinforcement stickers and painted the whole nail black.  It was at this point I realised it would have been easier to paint the base, and do the black half moons, then do the stamping.  I was originally planning on painting my nails a different colour to the stripes, that's why I did them first, but in the end I just went with black.  Maybe it's because the weather has been wet and cold that went for such a dark colour.

The gold accents are water decals that I got from a huge sheet of gold water decals from the Born Pretty Store. Unfortunately it looks like they are sold out of them at the moment. They are the perfect shape to match a half moon at the base of your nail. My Born Pretty 10% discount code is: MNPG10.

I'm quite happy with this design in the end. It's simple and feels sophisticated.
