Uh Oh - it's Four Oh!

Today was kind of a special day for me, because just like last year (and the previous 39 before that) it's my birthday.  There is no hiding it now, as I'm officially 'over the hill'.  Good God people, can you believe I turned 40 today!  I don't swear here often, but holy shit I can't believe I'm that old.

Have you ever thought you were too old to rock a glitter bomb? Never! My 67 year old mum proves that every time she slaps one on.  And my age will never determine what I put on my nails.  I think that is why I love nail polish so much.  It's doesn't matter what age you are, 14 or 40, your nails look the same either way as far as I'm concerned.

So now that you know how old I am, lets get to the nails I chose to put on for my big four oh. For once I'm actually sharing with you what is on my nails right now.  Of course it had to be a gold mani, but what gold polish should I put on?  I ended up wearing a few different golds that I'm loving right now and made a full skittle mani.

On my thumb I wore Enchanted Polish Austin Powers. My index is Enchanted Polish Amazing.  My middle finger is JOSS Oh So Natural with various Swarovski crystals and silver bullions.  My ring finger is Lacquistry Amazeballs with gold holo glitter placement and my pinky finger is Amazeballz original.

There is one gold polish I'm really lemming right now and wished I could have included in this mani. Darling Diva Polish Champagne Wishes and Holo Kisses. I missed it during the restock about a month ago as I was out with the kids at t-ball, and then I missed grabbing it through a facebook sales site when I was on vacation and driving in outback Australia with no mobile service.  So if anyone has Darling Diva Polish Champagne Wishes and Holo Kisses they are willing to sell - please let me know!

I have to share with you one of the amazing gifts my hubby and kids gave me (which I believe my mum organised)  I told my hubby many, many months ago, that if he wanted to get me something for my 40th, then he could find me a gold nail polish bottle charm.  He looked everywhere on the interwebs, and found plenty of silver and pewter ones, but I needed a gold one.  They ended up getting this one custom made and the jeweller did an amazing job.

This is my old style gold charm bracelet.  I got this when I turned 18 and it had 3 charms on it.  Over the last 22 years I have added charms to it on different occasions and from all over the world.  Can you spot the Colosseum, the Statue of Liberty, Big Ben, the Leaning Tower or Piza, the Statue of David, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Sphinx?  That's just a few of the charms I have collected from around the world on our travels to those famous places.  To my bracelet, I now add this amazing gold Nail Polish bottle and it filled the very last link!

My gorgeous mum also made me a cake, themed around two of my loves - nail polish and my kids.  Thank you Mike and Mum! *hugs and kisses*

    1. Thank you. I totally agree that 40 is the new 30, I know I certainly don't feel 40! It never really occurred to me how long I had been collecting on that bracelet for until yesterday!

  6. Happy 40th! I remember feeling like you are now when I turned 40. Now I'm 52, facing my 53rd next week. Turning 50 sucked. Still, like they say...better than the alternative. I have an "old school" (love the way you put that) silver charm bracelet. My mom gave it to me when I was in my 20s. I thought it had a lot of charms on it but, wow(!), not as many as yours...I'd better get crackin'! :) And your mom is so inspiring! She can make fondant? She's my new baking idol! You come from very good genes! I just realized I went a little exclamation mark happy in this comment, so I'll just use one more: Happy Birthday once again!! (Oops, that was two ;) )
