Lynnderella - Evermore

Cause I'm feeling chatty tonight, let me tell you about something I noticed today.  We went to the local mall today for a bit of shopping and to escape the ridiculous heat - it got to 39.9°C today.  While there we had lunch, which can be a drawn out affair with a 4 and nearly 2 year old.  Sitting there, I started to notice peoples toes.  Just about every single women had sandals, flip flops or other open toed shoes on and I noticed that probably 9 out of 10 women had their toes painted.  Then I checked their fingers and noticed that only about 2 out of 10 painted their fingers.

I always have both fingers and toes painted and I wondered why so many women only painted their toes and not their fingers as well?  Can anyone tell me?  I just don't get why you would put the effort into painting your toes when far less people are going to look at your toes compared to seeing your hands.

Hmmmm.  So there you go.  I hope you liked that bit of useless chit chat.  Yep, that's a minute of your life you wont get back.  Shall we get to today's polish?

Lynnderella - Evermore is a clear base with various shaped black glitters.  There are hearts, circles, squares of various sizes, hexes and diamonds.  There is also a crazy multicoloured microglitter base.  At first I thought it was a holographic glitter cause I saw so many colours, but when I looked closely I could see all the little glitters in lots of colours.

I'm wearing one and half coats of Evermore over a single coat of OPI Samoan Sands.  Samoan Sands provided just enough to coverage to give me that completely nude look but without my delightful stained yellow nails.

What an interesting polish, I've never seen anything like this one.  It certainly has a Halloween vibe to it.  I also love that this polish is dedicated to two of Lynnderella's friends: "one lovely and brainy" (whomever that is) "and the other a dear feline who has departed for other realms".  It makes me think of my dearly departed felines, Lufee and Yushi.

  1. I notice the toes/fingers things a lot on the train as well! My sister also only paints her toe nails, but keeps her fingers bare. I've asked her about it and she says it's because she thinks painted finger nails are too "loud" for her job (I can only imagine what she thinks about me wearing glitter bombs to work lol). She painted them while she was on holiday though. My mum also only paints her toes, but her reasoning is that she has very arthritic fingers and she doesn't like drawing attention to them.

    1. Thanks Sunny - I'm sure there are people at work who wonder about my glitter fingers (and toes). I can definitely understand about your mums fingers though.

  2. This one quite grows on me! I do like it alot :) I have a non polish friend who explained to me how if she painted her fingers, then it might not match everything she wore for the week but with toes it didn't matter..LOL.

    1. Hee hee, that's funny. While I do like to match my outfit with my nails, it really doesn't bother me if they totally clash. But I guess this is a valid reason (although if I didn't like mismatching my outfits I would just change polish daily)

  3. I think it's because painted fingers need more attention. If I wear polish on my fingers (which is almost every day), it lasts about 3 - 5 days, depending on the brand, type of polish and my activities. Wearing polish on the toes lasts weaks (4-6 in my case).

    1. Yeah - I wear toe nail polish for about 4 weeks, but do my nails every day. I agree, on your nails it drawns more attention and should ideally not be chippy.

  4. I always notice toes when Im walking up the stairs at the station in the mornings. It blows me away how many women have really poorly painted toenails, or just untended toes in general. Its an icky business looking at other people toes more often than not!

    1. I wasn't expecting to see so many painted toes to tell you the truth, I was pleasantly surprised and how well most of the ladies had done. Maybe it's just cause it's this time of year??

  5. I've noticed it too! I think that it's the wear time that people prefer. Slightly chipped toes are a lot less noticeable than chipped fingernails!

This heat wave is horrible! My parents live about 4 hours west of Canberra and my Mum has been sending me photos of their weather measuring machine thing (seriously, what are they called?) all day. The top was something ridiculous like 47.5ÂșC. I'm glad I'm back in Sydney! I hope it cools down for you all soon!

    1. Definitly agree about the chipped fingers verses chipped toes.

OMG 47.5 crap. This heat wave is pretty nasty!

  7. Love this unique polish! I'm a sucker for glitter polishes at the best of times, and this combines two types. :)

  8. I think people generally don't think feet are good looking so they try to pretty them up with polish. And as other

The heat is terrible.. This time of year we get days on end (often up to two weeks) of mid-high 40 degree heat before we get a little break of low 40s.

    1. I don't know how you ladies in the desert cope with this sort of relentless heat day after day. I'm guessing you don't venture outside much?

  9. I painted only my toes for a LONG time. I've always loved nail polish but never wore it on my fingers b/c I had badly peeling, perpetually short nails. If I tried to wear polish it would chip in less than a day. Polish on my toes would last for 2 weeks or so without chipping. I figure it's the same way with a lot of women, so they just don't bother with painting their fingernails.

Fortunately, my nails are much healthier now. :)

    1. Another excellent reason why people may not paint their fingers. Keeping your fingernails neatly manicured and healthy looking is really hard work, so I completely understand that!

  10. I ALWAYS have to have my toes painted. I don't mind so much if I go out with unpainted fingers but I feel like toes look 100x more gross without polish LOL.

    1. My toes are ALWAYS painted too, but I very very rarely go out without fingers done too! Even if my fingers are bare and I have to leave immediately, there are a few one coater polishes that I can slap on and go.

  11. I have my toes done (I won't touch those nasty things myself LOL) and the polish will last and last... I used to bite my fingernails so I couldn't polish them since it would look nasty. That changed now of course!! I think that it takes a lot more effort to keep fingernails looking nice vs your toes!

    1. Agree 100% about the effort to keep fingernails looking nice vs toes. I don't ever like doing my toes, but like the finished look when they are freshly done.

  12. I can offer another reason. My mom and sis work in health care and have to wash and sanitize their hands a lot, plus they are not allowed to wear polish on their tips. Polishing their toes gives them a bit of "me time" and makes them feel as pretty as their jobs allow.

  14. Feet are ugly without polish, fingers can be seen without. :P

  15. Wow what great responses from everyone. They are all such valid and interesting ideas. Me - I have ugly feet and I hide them away in closed toe shoes as much as possible. My fingers though - I'm one who just talks with their hands - beautiful finger nails are a must.

    1. ps - I forgot to say how much I like that Lynn. Very unusual and the close ups really show the detail beautifully.

    2. Yep, I'm loving all the ideas at everyone has. I must say that I certainly talk with my hands too, not sure if its because that's just what I do, or if its cause I'm waving my arms around to show people my nails.

  16. I quite like this one, reminds me of goth fairy floss for some reason! Have you found a seller who is shipping to Aus for the Lynn's or have you been sent them to sample? I would love to get my hands on some of the new polishes, but as far as I can tell she hasn't started shipping internationally from her eBay store yet.

    1. I purchased these Lynns and I have friends who mule them from the USA to Australia for me. But I'm not holding out for International shipping through the Lynn ebay store. International shipping has started to Canada, but I believe brokerage fees from UPS are really high. I've also heard that the minimum is about $110 to Australia to do it legally though UPS. :(

    2. That is a real bugger! I'm glad you have friends who will post them for you, but I was really hoping that it would be achievable when she mentioned internationally shipping was coming soon. At least there are some fantastic indie makers in Aus now, I really Like Pretty Serious & Femme Fatale, so I guess I will stick with them. Cheers for the response!

  17. Personally: I don't like the feel of polish on my fingernails (the weight, thickness, and slipperiness) and the nail polish smell really bugs me a lot (I can still smell it three or four days after polishing my nails; it's most annoying and noticeable when i blow my nose, which happens a lot, since I have lots of allergies). I also hate the look of chipped nail polish, and since i use my hands a lot, polish usually starts chipping as soon as it's done drying. I like looking at polish, though, so i sometimes paint my ring and pinkie fingernails, while leaving the rest blank. (The polish smell which is the worst thing, is most noticeable and bothersome on the middle, index, and thumbnails.)

    1. Well there you go! Sounds like you need nail polish jewellery - pretty to look at but wont bother your nails or smell.

  18. I've noticed the same phenomenon on New York city subways in the summertime. Women of every age, race, and class have their toes painted, but more fingernails are bare. I'm sure there are a lot of reasons, but the most likely to me are: a) feet/toes are commonly considered unattractive, both by their owners and by society in general, so if we're going to expose them in the summer months, we have to dress them up a little bit/cover up what we can, and b) a lot of people can't wear nail polish to work, and not just because they work in conservative offices. People who work with their hands have practicality or hygiene to consider. For instance, when I used to get professional manicures more often, I always noticed that the techs' fingernails were bare, but they always, always had elaborate and beautiful pedicures.

  20. I know a lot of jobs where I live (especially food-related ones) don't allow nail polish to be worn during work hours. (Some places even have acetone there so it can be removed prior to work.) Maybe they figure since they can't wear it on their fingers, painting their toes is the next best thing.

  21. Maybe women paint only their toes because toes are more ugly than fingers and they want to make them look nicer :-) That's the way I think about painting my toes. But in Germany most of the women don't even paint their toes in summer!

    ReplyDelete
  22. For toes, I think people can do it once and it will last for a LONG time, but with fingers some ppls will chip within the same day and that fusterates ppl. Also I;ve learnt that (sadly) not everone cares about having their nails painted (shocking!!! I KNOW!). As for the Lynn, I like it except for the huge black circle & squares... personally I wish they were all small/medium chunks of glitter.

  23. Hey, so I am one of those who paints toes 100% of the time and fingers only 10%. Its the wear time. I cant bear to wear anything that has chipped and my nails chip in less than 24 hours no matter what i do. Just dont have the patience to do it over every single day.
Plus I can paint my toes and do all sorts of stuff around the house without much interference, like feed my baby, cook, etc. Paint fingers and you have to wait it out - yes, even with the quick dry top coats.
