China Glaze Hologlam

Today I have swatches of the China Glaze Hologlam collection from last year. Yes, these are pretty old now and everyone has seen them, but I felt these polishes didn't receive much love last year, in fact they were hated on quite a bit for not being holo enough.

I'm putting this out there right now, I love this collection, and I don't know why more people don't rave about it. The holo pigment is super fine and the polishes are 100% linear and totally different from all the other holographic polishes around.  It's not that 'in your face holo' that you see on the Dance Legends or Color Clubs, it's a smoother and softer holo look that is much more reminiscent of the original OMG Holos from 2009. Although they don't have the same incredible linear holo in full sun that the OMG polishes have, these ones certainly didn't disappoint me.

Application of these polishes was so much better than the original OMGs, no dragging or balding issues. A lot of them are also nearly opaque in one coat, and they work great for stamping.

So now sit back and enjoy a trip down memory lane from last year.

Cosmic Dust - Light dusty silver / pewter holo.

Astro Hot - Light lavender-leaning pink holo.

Don't be a lunatic - Pale, cool-toned seafoam green holo. Looks mostly silvery blue.

Galactic Gray - Medium warm graphite gray holo.

Get outta my space - Light, soft, pinky-lilac purple holo.

Infra Red - Vibrant warm magenta holo.

Not in this galaxy - Warm medium peach-coral holo

OMG a UFO - Warm, yellow-toned, mossy-olive green holo.

Sci-fly by - Light, silvery sky blue holo. The strongest holo effect of all the polishes.

Strap on your moonboots - Dark midnight blue holo.

Take a trek - Medium denin blue holo.  Slight lean toward blue-green.

When stars collide - Warm, slightly dusty dark purple holo.

So there you go. The beautiful China Glaze Hologlams. I've seen these around for pretty cheap prices, so I reckon they would be a very smart buy.  Did you get the Hologlams? Did you love them or loathe them?

  1. I really liked this collection when it came out, although it's not sold in my country. I'd especially love to get my hand on When Stars Collide and Galactic Grey :)

  2. I loved these. I got four and now I'm thinking about getting OMG a UFO as well. What I didn't like about the collection is the amount of blue shades.

    1. That's interesting, I love that there are so many blue shades, as I prefer cool tones.

    2. And judging by these photos they suit you very well. It is hard for me to find a shade of blue that goes well with my skin tone and personal style (I'm a black & red kinda gal). I did buy Strap on your moonboots and I love it.

  7. I've always wanted this collection but unfortunately the beauty supply I go to never brought this line in - they brought everything else but this. It always made me so sad :( Maybe I can find these kicking around in some dusties. Thanks for the swatches!

  8. I've got 4 of them and I think they are quite chique. And even pretty in low light. Can't say that of the Layla's and Color Clubs.

  12. Oh, sheesh, everyone of these polishes is so pretty! I'm getting really burned out on seeing the full-on holos so these are nice.

  13. I'm such a fan of this collection! They're my only holos so far, and while they're not very strong in person the colors are still very nice and, for me, they dry ncie and quick. I have OMG a UFO, Galactic Gray, Astro-Hot, and Not in this Galaxy. My only complaint is my Galactic Gray is *really* thick, but I think that might just be my bottle.

  14. I bought most of these at Big Lots (in U.S.A.) for half price. I haven't worn them yet, but I think they look lovely in the bottle and in the swatches I've seen online.

    1. Yeah - it's almost impossible to buy these in store in Australia. I do all my shopping online. Try http://www.hbbeautybar.com to start with.
